I hope the special edition DVD comes with a soundtrack CD shaped like Elijah Wood's head!

Oh no doubt, I can't see anyone ever topping Spinell's work in the original. But I think Frodo is going to do a good job here.

Who needs a remake of MANIAC.
It is not a film that needs to be remade. That's a compliment.

Elijah Wood is one of England's finest.
I don't think much of his choices, lately.

Like all remakes...in a perfect world they would compliment the original movie.....or update it...give another interpretation of the original....at least improve on bits such as SFX, tevhnical advances etc WITHOUT shiting on the original.....

This rarely happens I think...but when it does it is welcome...

I thought the movie didn't show Elijah that often?

He seems to be in an awful lot of those pics!

He doesn't look as SLEAZY as Spinell did (which actually leads to my ONLY gripe with the first one...HOW did he pull Caroline Munro?) ...but the intensity is there!

It is. I'm also glad to see that it looks like they've kept the whole mannequin thing going on. I always thought that was part of what made the first one so creepy and sleazy was how Spinell had all those mannequins. Not sure why, but that seemed unhealthy to me. Made his character appear more deranged.

UK quad poster is pretty cool. Dig how they used the tag line from the original.

No word on a domestic release via IFC yet but Metrodome brings this to UK theaters March 15.

                      New UK trailer...

Wonder how much they will cut for the UK release!!!

                        UPDATE!!

Metrodome Distribution have informed blu-ray.com that it has been confirmed by the BBFC that Franck Khalfoun's Maniac has not been cut back from its original Fright Fest reel which has now been rated as an 18.

BUT....it doesn't say if the FESTIVAL print had already been cut or not.....

Maybe the power of the hobbit has worked his magic on this one???

Elijah Wood Is The Killer In MANIAC Remake!

Just seen this. It's very nasty in places with some incredible effects and camera work. Little more than a succession of stalk and kill scenes threaded with an unconvincing romance (like the original). The dialogue and delivery isn't so great and combined with most of it being POV, kept me out of the movie. A lot to admire but tough to like.
                            Note: don't take the Missus.

Oh... and the 80's style synth score is awesome!

Maybe I should be worried that my chick wants to see this way more than I do.
