    Press release!

This summer, visionary filmmaker M. Night Shyamalan unveils a chilling, mysterious new thriller about a family on a tropical holiday who discover that the secluded beach where they are relaxing for a few hours is somehow causing them to age rapidly … reducing their entire lives into a single day.

Old is a Blinding Edge Pictures production, directed and produced by M. Night Shyamalan, from his screenplay based on the graphic novel Sandcastle by Pierre Oscar Lévy and Frederik Peeters. The film is also produced by Ashwin Rajan (Glass, AppleTV+'s Servant) and Marc Bienstock (Glass, Split). The film's executive producer is Steven Schneider.

If I want to see old, I'll just look in the mirror.

What's with the title change? Sandcastle is more evocative and poetic than Old.

Then again, by this point we all know Shyamalan is kind of an idiot, so I guess Occam's Razor applies here.

I've never heard the stars speak about what it's like working with M Knight but I got to imagine he doesn't spend a lot of time with his actors or else he doesn't know how to communicate with them. You can see it most in The Happening. They just don't know how to make it real and kind of flounder around with furrowed brows because they don't know what else to do. Led to a lot of unintentional comedy. This film, even in those little snippets, looks like its suffering the same issue.

"Visionary" = he does the same film over and over again. "Impressive international cast" = no top tier talent.

I just love american promo speak.

Regarding the film itself, I 'll probably see it if/when it pops up on streaming but not a priority.

I guess I forgot that people liked Split, and got all excited over Glass, which I thought was a typical M. Night hack job. His films are not good. I still consider THE HAPPENING to be one of the worst films ever made.

Split was entirely the James McAvoy show. He carried it all by himself. Not a good film, but a fun as hell performance by him.

Glass was awful though. Almost as bad as the Happening.

I think UNBREAKABLE is a great film an I'm one of the few that genuinely likes THE HAPPENING. When I saw it in the theater I was blissfully unaware that I was watching a bad film - no shit. Only when it started to gain a reputation as a good bad film did I realize that people were laughing at it. Now, I find it very amusing that it's badness went right over my head.
Why would anybody watch a scum show like Videodrome? Why did you watch it, Max?

Hahaha, amazing. I mean, not that you genuinely like The Happening, that's terrifying. But the last part.

I know a lot of people liked Unbreakable. I think that Sixth Sense was the only film of his that I actually liked, but Unbreakable wasn't terrible.

Nothing in the Shyamalan canon can top the pure naffness of the baby monitor picking up the alien communications in Signs. Even Stephen King at his drunkest wouldn't have let that one get past quality control.
