  • Host (Shudder)

So I keep reading about how terrifying this movie is.

I don't have Shudder as I don't really feel I need it but is the movie as good as the hype would have us believe?

    Anyone here seen it?

I've been waiting for the wave of Zoom horror. It had to happen. There will be a bunch of them and, to me, that looks like the most predicatable way to have done it. I'm expecting Zoom romantic comedies as well. There will probably be a French 'art' film as well about Granny dying and the whole family gathering by Zoom to hash out old grievances.

I have Shudder and I'd like to be the guinea pig for oyu guys but that's a really unappealing concept for a movie for me.

I have Shudder as well obviously. I'll be the canary in the mineshaft.

I saw it a couple weeks ago. It's a decent watch considering it's only an hour long and they made good use of limited resources but I have no idea why it's getting so much hype. It's more or less a super low-fi Unfriended. Nothing I'd recommend going out of your way to see.

That's what I was thinking: the UNFRIENDED movies, THE DEN, or (for the bulk of its running time) CAM.

No firm details yet but Second Sight announced that they're giving this a limited edition Blu-ray release in the UK in the new year.

It's absolutely ridiculous that this film has been called the scariest of the decade. As mentioned above, it's basically a low budget version of UNFRIENDED. The short runtime helps, and there are a couple of fairly creepy glimpses of the demon (you have to freeze frame it to get a good look). The cast is mostly annoying and amateurish. It really is unpleasant to watch a zoom gettogether as a film though.

Didn't Collingswood Story do the whole scary video chat thing already? I think that's the one I'm thinking of.

Yep, that movie was way ahead of its time.

Was pretty creepy as I recall.
