Despite declaring earlier in this thread that I wasn't going to pick up this set, I did end up buying the blu-ray version in the end. I can't really explain why, just got to the end of the month, had some leftover spending money (the upside of a year of basically no travel or socialising), so... what the hell.
Watched the theatrical cut weekend-before-last, and can't really add much to what others have said - looked and sounded fantastic. My previous go-to copy was an early '00s DVD, so a huge upgrade - I noticed so much new detail. Looking forward to trying out the Argento cut, which I've never seen before, in a few weeks, and then we'll probably leave the extended version for a nice treat at some point in the future when we feel like watching 'Dawn..' again.
Has anyone else cracked open the book of essays which comes with the set by the way? It's... hard work, to be honest. Naming no names, but there are some fairly bad/pretentious bits of film writing in there, along with a few good ones, and some which touch on interesting ideas but could have really done with a bit of editing/redrafting to get their ducks in line. I've taken a break from reading it for the moment, as it was all kind of blurring into one and generally making me feel like a college tutor marking a pile of student assignments or something.

I was hesitant, given the price and the fact that I didn't need the additional tat. (I already have the novelisation and the music.) However, given that it's a favourite film of mine, I made the decision to move some funds around, and saved some money by feeding my kids nothing more than crisps for a month and selling the family home (we now live in a tent). Definitely worth it!
But seriously, it's an excellent release. I'm very pleased with it.

Yep, it's an enormous step up. For things not noticed before, I guess I never noticed the snowflakes during the opening scene outside of the apartment building before.

I cancelled my order, I'll wait for a standard edition. I decided that I didn't need to buy this again at £75. Caps look great though, but I'm in danger of overdosing on this so I need a bit of time.

If you are outside Europe and ordered the Second Sight release from Base, like me, your order has been cancelled
Non-EEA Fulfilment
We have been experiencing an increasing number of legal challenges and other issues with our shipping of orders outside of the European Economic Area (EEA). Our suppliers transact with us on the basis that goods will only be sold within the EEA.
These issues have been compounded by: Covid-19 related delivery constraints and costs, an increasing number of lost parcels, local taxation changes, and customs delays. All this has led our Board to take the decision that, with immediate effect we will cease taking orders for countries outside of the EEA.
From the 1st October, we will cease to ship orders outside of the EEA. Any orders that are still outstanding will be cancelled.
We regret we have had to take this action and apologise for any inconvenience we have caused you.
Kind regards

And a note from their FB page:
"The UK Dawn of the Dead has really turned into an enigma for us. I won't go into any specifics about why we are making this decision but we are only taking preorders today and tomorrow. After that we won't have anymore to sell or save. It is possible we have plenty when October comes and we can offer more to sell but if you want to lock in your order, please do so now. Although it does say this on the product page, here is a reminder that we take payment now and we don't offer cancellations on preorders."

I wouldn't bother with the novelization, it's pretty mediocre (although I've not read it for 29 years). Romero didn't actually write it himself despite getting top billing.
