  • What are your Top 10 horror flicks of the decade so far?

I thought it would be interesting to see what everyone's top picks are from 2010 - 2016.

    Here's mine:

    1. The Cabin in the Woods
    2. Frozen
    3. Last Shift
    4. Here Comes the Devil
    5. You're Next
    6. Spring
    7. The Lords of Salem
    8. Sleep Tight
    9. The Rambler
    10. Deathgasm

EDIT: I removed WAKE WOOD from my list because it was released in 2009. Replaced it with SLEEP TIGHT.

Why would anybody watch a scum show like Videodrome? Why did you watch it, Max?

My list includes a few horror comedies and thrillers. In no particular order:

        We Are Still Here
        The Witch
        It Follows
        Kill List
        The Babadook
        Black Swan
        Cabin in the Woods
        John Dies at the End
What We Do in the Shadows
        Green Room

        Runners-up:
        Here Comes the Devil
        Starry Eyes
        You're Next
        The Collection
        It's all in the reflexes.

In no order, and there's a bunch of stuff I still haven't seen. Probably LAST LOVERS LEFT ALIVE, CRIMSON PEAK and THE WITCH would be there if I weren't so lazy.
          1. The Woman (McKee, 2011)
          2. Spring (Benson & Moorhead, 2014)
          3. It Follows (Mitchell, 2014)
          4. Last Shift (DiBlasi, 2014)
          5. The Babadook (Kent, 2014)
          6. Sleep Tight (Balaguero, 2011)
          7. Bone Tomahawk (Zahler, 2015)
          8. Willow Creek (Goldthwait, 2013)
          9. John Dies at the End (Coscarelli, 2012)
          10. Housebound (Johnstone, 2013)

          Cruelly cut:

          Stake Land (Mickle, 2010)
          Absentia (Flanagan, 2011)
          V/H/S (everybody, 2012)
Here Comes the Devil (Bogliano, 2012)
          Jug Face (Kinkle, 2013)

Probably not on anybody's list, but for the record:

          L.A. Zombie (LaBruce, 2010)
          The Rig (Alencio, 2010)

More sf than horror, or I'd probably bump these in, too:

          Banshee Chapter (Erickson, 2013)
          10 Cloverfield Lane (Trachtenberg, 2016)
          Resolution (Bensons & Moorhead, 2012)

I liked the CONJURING/INSIDIOUS/SINISTER stuff well enough, but...

Only Lovers Left Alive and Crimson Peak would be runners-up for me too. Shit, Crimson Peak might even be in my Top 10. I hate making lists like this, and yet I keep on tryin'.

I'll go alphabetical and save myself the headache of trying to rank them... This is pretty much off the top of my head so I'm sure I'm leaving some good stuff out.

              Top 10:

A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night
All the Boys Love Mandy Lane (counting it by US release date)
              American Mary
              The Innkeepers
              Masks
              Nina Forever
              Scream 4
              Spring
              Starry Eyes
              Under the Skin

              Honorable mention to:

              Eat

*Edited because remembering release dates is hard apparently.

Jeez, I don't even know if I've seen 10 horror films made between 2010-2016, but I've liked:

                  1. What We Do in the Shadows
                  2. Cabin in the Woods
                  3. Black Swan
                  4. John Dies at the End
                  5. It Follows
                  6. 10 Cloverfield Lane
                  7. Juan of the Dead
                  8. Evil Dead
                  9. The Lords of Salem

I've got unwatched Blu-rays of We Are Still Here, The Witch, and Green Room (is this an actual horror film or is it more of a thriller?) so after I watch those, this list could change.

The scene where Molly is being terrorized by her father is one of the scariest scenes of the decade; it's pure dread, as you hear him slowly coming up the stairs singing in that disembodied voice, getting closer and closer. Chilling.
