Lionsgate Resurrects Horror Cult Classics in High Definition with the Limited- Edition Vestron Video Collector's Series

Chopping Mall, Blood Diner Arrive on Blu-rayâ„¢ September 27

SANTA MONICA, CA (August 2, 2016) - Lionsgate is exhuming classic horror films with a red carpet rollout this fall for the limited edition Vestron Video Collector's Series. Hours of materials have been assembled for the Vestron Video Collector's Series Blu-rayâ„¢ releases, starting with six horror cult classics! Taste the fear and the flesh, in shocking high definition for the first time, as teenagers meet their untimely demise at the hands of cannibals, killer robots, horror icons, sewer-dwelling monsters, and an army of the undead!

Vestron Video has been a leader in providing the most unique and wide-ranging selection of films. Lionsgate honors the spirit of Vestron Video by presenting the Vestron Video Collector's Series — a line of classic genre films newly remastered and with a wealth of supplementary features. Starting with Chopping Mall and Blood Diner, and continuing with Waxwork and Waxwork II: Lost in Time Double Feature, Return of the Living Dead 3, and C.H.U.D. II: Bud the CHUD, these re-releases are for the collector and horror fan alike and will be available for a limited amount of time.

Teenagers trapped in a high-tech mall overnight must find a way out before three malfunctioning security robots destroy them in Chopping Mall. In order to raise an ancient Egyptian goddess, two cannibalistic brothers use their restaurant to add something special to the menu in Blood Diner.

Each limited-edition feature, transferred from the original film elements to high-definition Blu-ray™, is packed with special features including brand-new audio commentaries, behind-the-scenes featurettes, and interviews with cast & crew — including one with Chopping Mall's robot! The Chopping Mall and Blood Diner Vestron Video Collector's Series Blu-ray™s will each be available for the suggested retail price of $39.99.

Nice! (well except for the limited edition nonsense.)

In for Chopping Mall, the Waxwork double feature and Return of the Living Dead 3 (assuming it is the unrated version.)

Is there nostalgia out there for the Vestron label? I suppose there are some completists that will get them all as a result. Anyway, nice to see these coming out, although not interested in the first two titles. Will probably get the Waxworks and ROLD3.

I used to absolutely love it when that Vesteon logo came up at the beginning of a videotape..they often had awesome trailers for pretty unwatchable films too!!

I still buy quite a few VHS every year and the logo I see most is Vestron. That means there are a lot of films that catch my interest that were released on Vestron VHS but haven't made it to DVD or Blu-ray. That said, of the 6 films mentioned I'd only buy CHOPPING MALL and ROTLD 3.

I do get a little exited when I see the Vestron logo. Those tapes have delivered more often than not.

Perhaps Vestron had a better line up in the US than the UK! I do remember my friends and I watching From Beyond on Vestron video with lots of pizza and beer when we were horny 15 year olds and our jaws dropping during the Barbara Crampton in bondage gear scene! In general I don't have much nostalgia for the VHS days, but then again, most of the good stuff was cut or banned in the UK during the 80's and early 90's.

I hope that 39.99 price is a typo.

I thought this list would be helpful for people wondering what could possibly be released:

Why would anybody watch a scum show like Videodrome? Why did you watch it, Max?

This is key. Hopefully Melinda Clarke will contribute to the extras. Always wanted to hear her and Yuza's commentary track but its on the cut DVD. Love this film to death (pun very much intended). Best of the series for me.

Chopping Mall is great. Has the first CHUD already got a blu release?

This is good news. I rented many Vestron titles on VHS and their sticker labels would easily fall off.
Waxwork and ROTLD 3 would be on my radar.
