I've been holding out buying the old blu, since I was sure this would happen sooner or later. Buying day one. This is a film I watch at least once a year, and I only have an old non-anamorphic piece of shit DVD.

I'm always afraid to see these big makeup effects extravaganzas on HD because the makeup seems to suffer more often than not. I don't know if it's just HD or faulty transfers (ala Arrow) but the makeup in these movies always looks worse in HD.

It's a by-product of doing a hi-res scan, and also using early-generation elements (e.g., the original camera negative, an interpositive, an internegative, etc.). When these films were shot, it was known that the theatrical prints would be a few generations down and not look particularly sharp, which did a lot to cover things up.

I noticed it in the Blu for Day of the Dead and Fulci's Zombie always looks a little off in HD for some reason.

Would that have been the same as the Scream Factory release?

Anyone think the 4K of the OCN will be a big upgrade over the S.F. transfer to warrant buying another copy? I kind of want to, that is, if I don't have to pre-order & Diabolik gets them in stock.

Wonder how they managed to get the OCN for a new scan & Scream could not? Is that because of the U.S. rights owners?
