  • The Captain America Movie...

The teaser spot is online here:

I'd probably be excited about it if I wasn't so sure that it's going to be full of unnecessary slow mo/speed up camera work and CGI wankery.

The casting looks good, and it's cool to see Tommy Lee Jones pop up there. I like that they're going for the WWII look and seemingly keeping it true to his comic book roots.

The best part is when Jor-El tells him the truth.

That's a highlight in any film.

Red Skull does look pretty bitchin'. I dunno. I want to like this and the stills make it look like they actually got it right. So much of it is going to hinge on the effects and stunts I think. Is it just me or do massive CGI effects sequences take you out of the moment even more so when the movie is set in the past?

I made an involuntary squeaky excitement noise after watching the trailer (and those pics, Matt). I thought I'd been superhero'd to death over the last decade - guess not.

We were at a Superbowl party when I saw the ad and it made me start flinging pillows at little kids. True story.

CGI gets to me when it's highlighted by slo-mo or bizarre camera angles, e.g. the shot of Cap flying toward that chain or some of the fight scenes in the SPIDER-MAN films. If its thrown in naturally like in DISTRICT 9 I have no problem with it.

I'm expecting more Spider-Man and less District 9 with this one. Though the director did use it reasonably well in The Wolfman.

Supposedly the new SPIDER-MAN reboot is going to rely less on CGI and more on real stunt and wire work...

                      More Cap caps...

That last Cap cap looks super sweet. That first Spider-Man image confuses me.

I like how "STUNTS" is stenciled on that mat. STUNTS ONLY!!

Yeah, you should definitely never consider crotching someone's face that intensely unless you are a trained professional stunts person.
