RROW VIDEO TO LAUNCH NORTH AMERICAN OFFICE IN 2015

    London, 3rd October 2014

Arrow Films are today thrilled to announce plans to expand its celebrated Arrow Video label into North America early in 2015. Fans will be able to learn all the details of this bold and exciting move, and discover regular updates, through a dedicated crowdfunder campaign which is launched today.

Lauded with positive feedback from a loyal fan base for its great success in releasing various acclaimed restorations of cult and horror releases, Arrow Video have in recent years won several prestigious 'Label of the Year' awards by such notable outlets such as broadsheet newspaper The Guardian and Home Cinema Choice Magazine.

By popular demand Arrow Video will launch into North America with a host of cult titles, receiving deluxe treatment in video, audio, supplements and artwork. Launch titles include Tonino Valerii's Spaghetti Western Day of Anger [I Giorni dell'ira, aka Gunlaw] starring genre icons Lee Van Cleef and Giuliano Gemma; Michael Armstrong's bloody and brutal critique of state-funded religious corruption Mark of the Devil in a director-approved release; and the thrillingly bizarro yakuza-samurai-ghost story-horror hybrid from Teruo Ishii, Blind Woman's Curse (1971, also known as Black Cat's Revenge). Future releases include films never-before-released on DVD and/or Blu-ray from European and Japanese cult directors. More to be revealed soon.

    About Arrow Video:

Started as an offshoot label of Arrow Films in 2009, the label began with two cult titles: Lucio Fulci's The House by the Cemetery (1981) and Lamberto Bava's Macabre (1980). The label ethos was 'The Art of Cult Films is Back!' a philosophy which is upheld and still features on the packaging today. Arrow Video releases hark back the video store glory days when VHS covers were lurid and exciting. The Label employs top illustrative artists to create brand-new oil-painting covers featuring reversible original key art as an alternate option. The label releases definitive editions that include complete uncut versions, multiple audio tracks, copious extras, cutting edge design and informative booklets. The collection now spans more than 100 releases and includes films by a host of major auteurs from Argento to Brian De Palma to Yuzna!

Some of their titles have already appeared at amazon.ca but are PAL versions, sort of odd.

Only titles that they can buy North American rights to will appear. This will limit the selection, similar to Raro.

Ummm - a certain U.S. releasing corp. of _erotic_ movies.

What name will it use on its releases? Members of this forum surely know that an American corporation which released explicit motion pictures (e.g.: "Do You Wanna' Be Loved?") would seemingly have an objection to it using the nomenclature "Arrow".

The price tier has shifted down, the high end is now 2500 for 10 yrs of releases & 1500 for 3.

I'm curious how people feel about crowd sourcing not a specific release but an actual business endeavor.

I guess it's not much different than pre-ordering a Code Red disc before it's pressed and ready to ship - but those are specific releases as opposed to an entire company.

It's interesting to me that Arrow, who have obviously had great success in the UK, chose this method to fund their entry into the North American market.

I saw that. Actually going for the 10 years worth of releases is a risk. If they release a bunch of stuff, you got a great deal, but if they crap out in the US market and release less than 100 titles, you lose.

                  Update.

So at 40 days left and we are already 74% funded! We are so overwhelmed by all the support we've received from you all and are very excited for Arrow Video USA to become a reality.

So, we've been listening to all of your feedback and suggestions (please keep 'em coming) and for our second update we have some VERY exciting things to reveal that will be of interest to some of our current pledgers...

So first up we have some more details about of release of Day of Anger.

That's right, our newly restored edition of Day of Anger will be a 3 disc set (1 Blu-ray, 2 DVDs) AND will include two different versions of the film! We are working hard on finalising the rest of the extras now so expect another announcement about these soon.

Now time for an very special update for all of you 3 year gold list pledgers out there! After reading all the feedback from you guys we are very pleased to reveal that we've decided to extend the 3 year list to 5 YEARS!

That's right! The $1,500 3 year gold list has been magically transformed to the $,1500 5 year gold list!!! So if you've already pledged you will now be getting 2 more years' worth of Arrow goodness FOR FREE!

**Please note that the perk is still showing as 3 years (we are trying to fix this). If you have already pledged you won't need to re-pledge or send over any extra info. The Arrow Video ghouls have everything covered so just sit back, relax, and start clearing some shelves for those 2 years of extra films that will be heading your way!**

And if all the above doesn't already have you head spinning in giddy excitement you will also be happy to know that we are getting very close to being able to announce some more brand new Arrow Video USA titles!

Man that puts a lot of pressure on them to stay solvent for ten years. 10 years is a hell of a long time in the video business and assumes there will even be a video business in 2024.

The crowdfunding to launch the venture....well, the branch of the already successful venture....doesn't sit well with me. I'll just support those North American companies that are already here doing what they do, who started themselves up....themselves.

                          Another update....

"That's right, thanks to all of you we have managed to reach (and are steadily exceeding) our original goal! We really can't thank you enough for your support and pledges and we are so proud to be able to make the dream of Arrow Video USA a reality next year!

So as promised in our last update, the time has come for us to reveal not one but two brand new titles. Both movies will be worldwide Region Free on Dual Format Blu-ray and DVD and available in the English speaking world for the first time… Please welcome MASSACRE GUN and RETALIATION to Arrow Video!

So there you have it, two classic yakuza flicks by Yasuharu Hasebe (Stray Cat Rock, Female Convict Scorpion: Grudge Song ) starring icons of the era including Jo Shishido, Akira Kobayashi, Meiko Kaji and Tatsuya Fuji! The films will come newly remastered by Nikkatsu Studios featuring new English subtitle translations and, as you have come to expect from us, video supplements, booklets and reversible sleeves featuring original and newly illustrated artwork - all to be revealed soon!

And now for the important stuff… MASSACRE GUN will be released first and will be followed by RETALIATION roughly a month later so MASSACRE GUN will be part of the 3 and 5 unannounced titles release bundle (see our page story for details) but RETALIATION won't (we still have one very exciting title to announce that will come earlier). And as always, both titles are now available as separate perks.

So that is it for this time round. We have been getting some great feedback via the Indiegogo comments and Facebook and Twitter section so if you do have a query or something you want to share with us do get in touch! "
