Looks good. I wonder how much of it will focus on the filming of Salo?

Fuck, he made it already?! Excellent. Been looking forward to this ever since it was announced. Dafoe couldn't be more perfect for this.

I like Ferrara. Even his shitty films are kind of enjoyable in strange ways. Will be seeing this for sure.

There's a good write up on the movie worth readnig here.

"At the time of Pasolini's death, Ferrara was just embarking his own career, shooting low-budget exploitation pictures in 1970s New York. “Decameron was my first exposure to him when I was a very young film-maker,” he told the Guardian. “My love and appreciation of his work has only gotten stronger since then.”"

I'm really looking forward to seeing this. Dafoe looks exactly like Pasolini. It's uncanny.

I never miss a Ferrara film and this one in particular sounds fascinating. It's playing at the New York Film Festival, tickets go on sale this Sunday.

Apparently it focuses on his last day alive, so anyone looking for a Biopic might be sadly disapointed. I am nontheless looking forward to this because Ferrara is one Director that makes interesting films and I love his style.

That's the vibe I got from it too. I haven't seen any Ferrara films past Body Snatchers but this looks good.

“F— them and f— IFC and the Center. Any filmmaker that's worth anything should go and burn that theater down,"

                      Abel's not happy with IFC.

Good for him. Why buy the film in the first place then demand it cut? The thing that really stuck out for me from that article was this:

Ferrara is bristling at a letter he says he received from IFC svp Arianna Bocco telling the filmmaker to deliver an R-rated version of Welcome so that it could match the version to be released on Showtime during its pay TV window.
What's the deal with Showtime? The way I always figured it was it was a premium pay cable station meaning anything that's not hardcore porn goes? Yet here they go again. Who can forget when they banned Miike's Imprint back in 2006?

                          Pasolini

                          A film by Abel Ferrara

                          Starring Willem Dafoe

Written and directed by cult filmmaker Abel Ferrara (Driller Killer, Bad Lieutenant, Welcome to New York), this dark, daring drama tells the story of the fateful final day of the controversial filmmaker Pier Paolo Pasolini. Released by the BFI in cinemas in September, it now comes to Blu-ray and DVD on 26 October 2015.

Special features include a filmed conversation with Abel Ferrara and the cast of Pasolini and a newly filmed interview with the British actor Robin Askwith on working with Pasolini.

Having recently finished Salí², or the 120 Days of Sodom, Pasolini has enraged audiences, critics and politicians with his outspoken views, overt sexuality and the scandal that surrounds his films. Focusing on both his private and professional life, Pasolini explores the inner world of the filmmaker in the hours leading up to his devastatingly brutal death.

Starring Willem Dafoe (The Last Temptation of Christ) as the great auteur, and featuring Ninetto Davoli, who acted in many of Pasolini's films, Pasolini is a powerful and evocative look into the dark world of one of cinema's most controversial figures, as seen through the eyes of one of modern cinema's most astonishing and surprising directors.

THE FUNERAL is incredible, probably one of his finest films. After BODY SNATCHERS I feel like his work really takes on a smaller more personal feel. I've liked all of what I've seen except for MARY, but I'll chalk that one up to myself being bored with the subject. And DANGEROUS GAME was just ok, IMO.

I quite liked NEW ROSE HOTEL, R'XMAS and especially GO-GO TALES. I think GO-GO TALES is hilarious in an understated kinda way. Gets better for me every time I watch it.

And THE ADDICTION is a brilliant vampire film.

Abel seems to get the best out of whatever actor he's working with. I'm happy Defoe continues to work with him.
