  • RIP Eli Wallach

Sad to hear that Wallach has passed away.

I always liked Wallach. He gave some excellent performances (BABY DOLL, THE MISFITS, THE GOOD, THE BAD AND THE UGLY and one of my favourite TV movies, A COLD NIGHT'S DEATH). In an alternate world, he would have taken that part in FROM HERE TO ETERNITY and become a big star.

I say we celebrate the fact he damn near made it a century instead of being sad - he was 98 - and that's an enviable run. Another lesser known but fantastic role of his was Dancer in Don Siegel's THE LINEUP. RIP sir, thanks for the countless hours of wonder.

And, not to mention, still giving some great performances until very recently. He was great in WALL STREET: MONEY NEVER SLEEPS, for example.

awww....I love that man. I love that he worked so late in life and seemed a genuinely nice man. Sad, but he was up there. "If you're going to shoot, shoot. Don't talk"...one of the best lines ever.

WOW...98 is a pretty good run....Loved him in the usual stuff he is known for (Good the bad etc) but also enjoyed him a lot in TOUGH GUYS.......

If you go to IMDB you can get a look at how many things he was actually in ...from KOJAK to MURDER SHE WROTE to ER to HIGHWAY TO HEAVEN....the guy just kept working!

Seems like he lived his life to the fullest!

            RIP!

            PS anyone red this?

Gonna try and get a copy...never thought he had written one!!

Amen. The man led a great life and gave us some great performances.

If I remember correctly, Horace's mother acted alongside him at one point.

At any rate, RIP to a man who created one of my favorite big screen characters of all time in the movie that made me the film junkie I am today.

His autobiography is pretty good, as I recall, sukebanboy.

Mr. Wallach had a sister that had a summer home in the next town over from me. I did not see him. Nor meet him. I have no stories.
