Or shall I say Z-Movie. It stars Dominic Purcell and Michael Ironside and the story is that in 1962 Three genetically modified soviet supersoliders were found in the ice in Arctic Canada (Here played by a GreenScreen in a studio in more pleasantly temperated Canada). Anyhoo these russian universal Soldiers Arctic Edition awaken and kill all the Canadians at the base. Flash forward 50 years later some scientists, mercenaries and oil executives are in the Arctic and manage to find these Russkies, who all look like 90s C-Movie regular Frank Zagarino of course awaken again and go on a killing spree.
This film was obviously very cheap, and I only rented it because my local videostore has a good discount when you rent 3 DVDs or Blus for a week, and of course because I love this type of cheap shitty film. The 60s scenes were pretty accurate in hairstyle, Equipment etc but I found it hilarious that characters who were played by obvious non-smoking actors were smoking in the most un-natural way ever filmed. Quite funny actually.
Also, the film has the usual B-Movie stupidness of trying to create tension and drama by having characters do idiotic and illogical things. The film also go the route of excessively cheap by having the bigger bloodbaths all off screen and viewed by showing characters faces etc.
Sony has released this film all over region 2/B so I assume it is the same for 1/A. So those of you who have Netflix or a vidostore near by, you know you have to see this.
