That has my favourite Waters line of all time: 'I don't want no white man looking at my Tampax!'
I'm bitter, I'm twisted, James Joyce is fucking my sister.

I wish Waters would let us see the early films. Is it an elements issue or is he just embarrassed by them now? The only rare one I have, besides MONDO TRASHO, is the short THE DIANE LINKLETTER STORY.

EDIT: I just realized that the early films are probably filled with unlicensed songs, so we'll probably never see them.

Why would anybody watch a scum show like Videodrome? Why did you watch it, Max?

I remember reading, about 20 years ago, that the last festival showing of one of his early shorts ended up with him being sued by a record label, and that sadly resulted in him having to lock them all away.

          John Waters to direct Liarmouth.

          https://deadline.com/2022/10/john-wa...es-1235136797/

"In what marks a high-profile return to filmmaking for John Waters, Village Roadshow Pictures has optioned his new novel Liarmouth: A Feel-Bad Romance. Waters will write the script and direct.

It will be Waters’ first time behind the camera since 2004’s A Dirty Shame. Steve Rabineau will produce alongside Village Roadshow Entertainment, which Steve Mosko revived as a producer and financier. Mosko and Waters hail from Baltimore."

          More at the link.

I'm currently listening to the audiobook version of Waters' CARSICK, read by the man himself. It's about Waters hitchhiking across country and each chapter is a different ride. It's a lot of fun and is the next best thing to a new Waters feature. It's everything you'd expect: funny, disturbing, sometimes disgusting and always entertaining. One chapter even brought a tear to my eye, believe it or not.

I read his book Shock Value around 20yrs ago when I was on a Waters kick. There's a section in it where he describes his "perfect day," and I recall him writing something like "I start the day by waking up to the sounds of my upstairs neighbors arguing." Ha Ha.

Someone posted at the Criteionforum that they went to see Waters show a couple weeks age and they
... asked him if we would see "Desperate Living" from Criterion in 2024. He said that Criterion is pushing him to do "Hairspray" (!), but he keeps telling them that the fans want DL instead.
The correct answer is to do both.

Anyone know if John Water’s Kiddie Flamingos (2015) has had a release anywhere outside of the multimedia show at Marianne Boesky Gallery? The only bit of the film I can find is this teaser & I'm surprised it wasn't included as an extra on the Criterion Pink Flamingos BD.

When they auctioned off all the junk Warhol had hoarded in his house I believe Waters got a lot of his gay porn collection, loops, 16mm and tapes.
