David Cronenberg has announced that he (along with screenwriter Bruce Wagner) will be adapting the Jonathan Lethem novel AS SHE CLIMBED ACROSS THE TABLE.
This is the most exciting pairing of director and literary work I think I've ever heard of. If you haven't read the Lethem novel, I'd recommend you do so posthaste. It's a Phildickian satire of academia and a sort of quantum-physics-ish love (jilted) story. I pray this happens...
I'd also like to see Cronenberg adapt DeLillo's WHITE NOISE. I've wanted this for years and thought it was odd when he finally did adapt DeLillo... but he chose COSMOPOLIS. This, of course, is just a wish; AS SHE CLIMBED ACROSS THE TABLE is confirmed (last I checked, anyway).
Fingers crossed.
