Revisited this one last night via the new Shout! Factory double feature release and it still holds up incredibly well. You get Lee Marvin as a Mountie hanging out with Carl Weathers in the Yukon drinking whiskey and chasing a pissed off Charles Bronson through the snow with a gratuitous cameo from William Sanderson. And hey, Angie Dickinson too.

Shotguns. Angry dogs. Bi-planes. Buffalo women. Snow. Canada.

RAD.

Bronson and Marvin should have done more films together.

Adore that movie for many reasons but my fave thing is Bronson digging out the floor of his cabin for a tactical advantage.

It also has Andrew "10 To Midnight" Stevens and Ed "Death Wish 3/Cujo" Lauter. Great movie - might just pick this up on the double feature and sell off my Anchor Bay original.

This seems as good a place as any to mention my favorite part of that new Marvin bio - he and Gene Hackman are riding in a car together during the filming of PRIME CUT. Marvin had seen (and enjoyed) Hackman in the film I NEVER SANG FOR MY FATHER, but being Marvin, and probably boozed to the gills, he had to say, "I haven't had a chance to see that film with you and Melvyn Douglas. What's it called? I NEVER SUCKED MY FATHER'S COCK?

This thread on Blu-ray.com has mentioned that Movies Unlimited has a pre-order page up for a Death Hunt Blu-ray release due 8/20/13.

Wouldn't surprise me to see Shout do this.

The German Blu looks pretty good - I have it under the YUKON title - and word was an audio commentary was recorded for the old 2fer DVD but never used. A Blu would give them a chance to rectify that.
