speaking of misogynistic, I recently revisited the enforcer (1976) ... holy shit, women's rights activists would run amok if this gets ever shown on the big screen again. I especially enjoyed the encounter with mrs. grey.

Why would anybody watch a scum show like Videodrome? Why did you watch it, Max?

        *SPOILER*

I'm pretty sure it's meant to be ambiguous, but do you think Connery was a pedophile or just completely messed up from everything he'd seen over the years?
I've watched the film I don't know how many times over the past twenty-five years or so (since I first saw it) and I oscillate from one interpretation to the other. I guess the only conclusion I've drawn from it is that part of the 'point' of the picture is that you can never know what lurks within someone else's soul (eg, Johnson's wife being unaware, or completely uninterested, in the cases that haunt her husband) - thus the lack of conclusiveness regarding Ian Bannen's character's relationship with the crime (did he assault the girl or not?) :)

The moment at the end of the picture when Callahan fires the rocket launcher at one of the villains whilst calling him a 'fuckin' fruit' always makes my jaw hit the floor.

But it's all 'very stylish' ;)

I just blind-ordered THE DRIVER. It gets here Friday. Also looking forward to the new Blu-ray of THE LAUGHING POLICEMAN.

Don't think you'll regret the blind buy of THE DRIVER.

Watched THE LAUGHING POLICEMAN and also really enjoyed it. Much more deliberately-paced, but I was able to just chill and absorb the 70s atmosphere and performances. And damn, the other trailers on that disc. Now I gotta see REPORT TO THE COMMISIONER.

REPORT is good. Another grim little 70s gem. How many of these did they crank out in the decade?

Yeah odd that it hasn't even been given some kind of archive release.
