  • I watched Hellbound yesterday. Chuck Norris vs Satan's right hand man. Guess who wins?

      • It'd make a good double with End of Days.

        • A re-watch of Pitch Black: Mixes together Aliens and Night of the Living Dead (or if you want to get really technical The Blind Dead) with the highlite being the character of Riddick. The cinematography being pretty good but suffering from overblown lighting especially during the first half of the movie which is set in the daylight. It honestly looks like the film had its color correction turned all the way up. Not a bad flick but aside from Riddick it's not very memorable.

          • Not much this week due to travel BUT I did watch Jackass The Lost Tapes, which had lots of pooping and peeing in it, and The Vampire Lovers which holds up well. Also watched The Young Seducers and Die Stewardesses, both Erwin Dietrich movies with Ingrid Steeger in them. Young Seducers was ridiculous and fun, lots of 35 year old types playing 16 year old high school girls. Stewardesses was also fun, but the last story in the movie, involving a dirty commie hippy, went on too long. Fun movies overall though.

            • Fascination - still one of my favorite Rollin films. Dreamlike, sexy, stylish and interesting.

Lips of Blood - another one that holds up well, with a great climax and some interesting nods to the director's own career.

              • I watched "Machete Maidens Unleashed!" again over the weekend. That this documentary wasn't nominated for an Academy Award is a crime against humanity.

                      • The Killer Elite - for a movie with DeNiro, Owen and Statham, it sure was dumb and predictable. It looked good, but overall this was just not all that good.

The Hellstrom Chronicle - this, however, was amazing and I think it made my brain melt a little bit. As good as Phase IV, maybe better. I can see why it won the Oscar in 1972. So much crazy awesome rad scary bug footage in here. So good!

                          • Maybe you'll dig it more than I did but it's 80% Statham, 10% DeNiro, 10% Clive. I think they should have mixed it up more. It starts off reasonably well but it's too long and too predictable.

                            • Well maybe I will indeed like it more, as I am a huge Statham fan. The only one of his actioners I haven't enjoyed at least somewhat was Crank 2.

                              • Well as usual, Ian Jane has shitty taste. The Killer Elite was a solid if unspectacular action thriller that thank god avoided the shakey cam bullshittery that has plagued the genre the last decade or so, and went for the classic look. I recommend it for Action people who like Statham and Owen.
