Last night... The Change Up. Jason Bateman and Ryan Reynolds wind up switching lives after getting drunk and pissing in a magic fountain. Of course, they have to learn some life lessons and what not before they can go back to their regular lives, but along the way funny things happen. This movie was fucking stupid as stupid can be but I'll admit that it made me laugh a lot, so mission accomplished. I liked it more than I should have.Rock! Shock! Pop!

Wrong Turn 4 - This was EXACTLY what I wanted out of yet another Wrong Turn movie. If you're going to keep a franchise like this going, load it up with sex, lesbians, and ridiculous gore and shoot it all on location inside an abandoned mental hospital outside of Winnipeg in the middle of a snowstorm. Yes, it was dumb, yes, it was very much a by the numbers slasher in terms of plot, but the gore was great (very little CGI) and the lesbians were a nice touch. You didn't care one ounce about the characters but this one loaded up enough sex and violence to help me overlook that.
I am not in the least bit ashamed to love this series as much as I do, even if I know I probably should be.Rock! Shock! Pop!

Rum Diary: It was okay. Casting Depp I think was a huge mistake because it inevitably compares the film to Fear and Loathing and there's very little connecting the two movies. Depp doesn't even play Hunter the same way as he did in Fear and Loathing, nothing is similar except the voice (which was ADR'd in both films) and yeah there's some chuckles seeing Hunter refuse drugs at first and eventually become the Hunter that we all remember. But it's not that interesting.
Human Centipede 2: Supposedly the VOD version was cut by 2 and a half minutes. Even still it's pretty damn gory. I liked it a lot more than the first film because there's more going on. First film builds up to the surgery, and once we get to the surgery in the 2nd act nothing else happens. The sequel keeps building to the amateur surgery which makes up the entire 3rd act and damn is it violent.
Imagine a scale of bad 'Brutal' gore films occupying the bottom would be Murder-Set-Pieces and Chaos, the middle representing fun and purposefully ott gore films would be Hostel or Piranha 3D, the high end would be Serbian Film. I would place HC2 somewhere between the middle and high. There's some ott unintentionally funny parts (including the shitting scene which is eerily reminiscent of the Human Centipad episode of South Park), but the tone is serious enough that you can't laugh at too much. Plus filming in black and white adds to it I think."Ah! By god's balls what licentiousness!"
