Pee Wee's Big Adventure - checked it out on Blu-ray, there's a lot of weird little detail that sort of gets lost in standard def. This movie is still really weird no matter how many times I see it. Hadn't watched it in ages, it holds up well.

FORTRESS. Rachel Ward's one-room outback schoolhouse gets kidnapped and she gets borgnine on the bad guys. Really satisfying, and a fine Christmas movie, too. The Australian literary relationship to the wild works for Canadians, we have that same sense that the outdoors can kill you/save you. I'd like Everett De Roche to adapt Margaret Atwood's Survival, somehow. "There's no reason to keep anything from the children."

Crank 2: I watched it because Lloyd Kaufman interviewed those guys for Direct Your Own Damn Movie and they seemed like cool guys who shot their films with handheld consumer cameras. I can't say it's well shot but it is chaotic and it does kinda' work I suppose. It fully knows it's a crazy, ott action flick and embraces this. It definitely has shades of Troma's War and Total Recall. Fun flick.Last edited by Alex K.; 09-22-2011, 09:37 PM."Ah! By god's balls what licentiousness!"

Since I was feeling down on Thursday. I decieded to watch two of my favorite comedies. First I watched "Porkys" with the Bob Clark commentary. And this film,no matter how many times I see it,never fails to make me laugh so hard and so much that my sides are aching when the film is over. Then I watched "Revenge of the Nerds" with the commentary with the directer,Robert Carradine,Curtis Armstrong, and Timothy Busfield. After this double feature of 80's comedy goodness my mood had improved.

Scre4m/Scream 4 - A decent follow up. Not as good as the original but on par with 2 and better than 3. It was kind of fun seeing a bunch of the old characters back together again even if it was a bit contrived. Again, lots of self referential humor and an attempt to cater to today's teen audience, but I was fine with that, it entertained me and had a few decent kill scenes in it and some fun cameos.Rock! Shock! Pop!

Puppet Master 4 and 5: The pacing just kills these movies. Something happens, then nothing happens for a good 5-10 minutes (shots of people walking around, shot of the Psychic chick, shots of the puppets wandering around), then something happens, then nothing happens again. I get the feeling that this was intended as one movie but Charles Band split it into two films."Ah! By god's balls what licentiousness!"
