A bit of everything!
The Big Boss (1971) -- I have to admit, I've never watched this in full...until now. Bruce was really good in this, as his character is just a down-to-earth regular guy, who knows kungfu (obviously). Surprisingly gory in parts, and most doubly surprised to see that it had nudity in it. Nice Thai locations too, but Lo Wei's direction was a bit naff-to-middling. Otherwise, really good!
The Sweet Sex and Love (2003) -- standard Korean relationship melodrama aided with copious helpings of sex. Korea still outlaws full-frontal nudity and explicit sex, so this one was a bit of a surprise as it had female frontal nudity and some quite raunchy sex scenes. Nothing special for anyone here, but I enjoyed it for what it was (ie: Korean smut). Where else will you see massage oil used as lube for some backdoor action?
To Sir, With Love (2006) -- not the Sidney Poitier movie, but a Korean slasher. Had seen it before but discovered I had a brand new copy of the Korean 2-disc version still shrinkwrapped (alongside a similarly unopened copy of Arang). Very gory and with a really cool twist at the end. Not having watched a Korean film for a while, I forgot how good they can be.
($4 movie of the week): Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Next Generation (1994) -- the whole Illuminati thing sucked balls (what, the Sawyers were now in league with the Illuminati? Sure...). But McConaughey was flat-out gonzo nuts as Vilmer, and really uncomfortably creepy. Actually, this is the only sequel that comes close to summoning up the pure down and dirty ferocity of the original. I didn't even mind Leatherface as a cannibal drag queen. And it looked grungy as hell too. If only all the sequels were this good...
