Tacoma FD - Watched this on Netflix, just finished the four seasons. Exceptionally funny show by 3 of the Broken Lizard guys. I was a fan of Super Troopers when it came out, but when I re-watched it recently, it didn't hold up. (Super Troopers 2 was garbage.) I liked Beerfest and Slammin Salmon, but this show is way funnier, in my opinion.

Don't Go In The House: This was a film that Newt had wanted me to see, so I picked up the Severin Blu-Ray back at G-Fest. It was interesting, reminding me a lot of Maniac (only not nearly as gruesome or disturbing), and I thought Dan Grimaldi gave a pretty good performance as the lead, but it wasn't something I loved, either. Then again, I only watched the 83-minute theatrical version, and this set had three different versions, the longest of which is like 92 minutes, so that might make a difference. Anyway, the extras in that set were really interesting.

Forgot you had grabbed that. Not sure what versions I have seen. Know we rented it on VHS decades ago. Then got it on DVD.

ClownTown-ITN DVD
Shockingly this is a made in the US horror film from ITN. They mostly release UK and Spain made movies.
Heading to a concert 4 young adults break down in a town that has 3 killer clowns wandering around. Way better than most ITN releases. Pretty sure this is on TUBI. Worth seeing once

The Brain That Wouldn't Die: Another B-movie that I've known about for a long time but only now just saw (they used one scene from it during a game of Film Dub on Whose Line Is It Anyway?, so I was at least aware of that). Pretty talky and rather dull affair, although the Blu-Ray comes with the MST3K episode on it.

Dr. Caligari - Had really low expectations for this and at first it seemed kinda dumb but it didn't take long for me to get into it. It's just nice to look at because of its strange, surreal look but then the story and the ending weren't bad either. A very pleasant surprise with a really cute female lead, initially I was happy I just got the standard BD but before long I wished I had gotten the LE when I had the chance; at least my Cafe Flesh LE pre-order doesn't seem like as much of a dice roll to me now though!
Suddenly in the Dark - My other MM sale item and another I had doubts about when buying, sadly this one met expectations. The movie had its moments but overall was rather dull and felt a lot longer than it was. Passed on this for so long but the sale and OOP status made me grab what was probably my last chance to buy it...Last edited by f.ramses; 11-25-2024, 10:02 AM.

The Bat (1959): This was a Vincent Price movie that I'd never seen before, and was another flick I bought at G-Fest. He's not the star, nor even the main villain, but he's good as always, and the movie itself is a pretty entertaining whodunit, with the title villain having a memorable look, and a very jazzy theme song. This is a remake of a 1930 movie that's said to have been the inspiration for Batman.

Doomwatch: Very interesting ecological sci-fi/thriller about a scientist who's sent to investigate a Scottish island with some sinister secrets and uncovers that everyone is suffering from acromegaly due to dumping of containers of hormonal growth stimulants offshore. It's based on a BBC TV series that I'd never heard of before, and has George Sanders in one of his last roles, as well as a rather downbeat ending.

Emmet Otter's Jug Band Xmas-DVD
Dont think I have watched this in full in 30 years. Was one we got shown at school every year while waiting on the teachers to set up the Xmas party last day of school before Xmas Break.
Emmet needs money to get gifts, but will have to put a hole in Maw's washtub to make the money. Maw needs money for a costume to enter a contest, but will have to sell Paw's tools to get the money.
Love the Muppets and Henson's stuff and this is one that is pure childhood nostalgia.

The Pee Pee Poo Poo Man (Braden Sitter Sr., 2024)
Ripped from Toronto headlines, this shitty tale of paranoia, acid and big city life is well, shitty, and all the better for it. After a bad acid trip where the CIA takes over a guy's brain, he starts a job working for Reg Hartt putting up Cineforum posters (What I learned with LSD) but can't handle the stress out on the streets, so he starts flinging the poo, and the pee. Featuring Paul Bellini, Reg Hartt as himself, and a literal shitload of good-humoured people willing to have pee pee and poo poo dumped on them for the sake of the film. Soundtracked with a bunch of Weird Al style enshittification parodies of the American songbook, because we're all 12. It is what it is. So what; so very it; such is.
Shown as part of the Golden Showers double bill last night with The All Golden (Nate Winter, 2023), which disappointingly did not have golden showers, though it did have Nazi gold, hot wax and some almost-subliminal Water Power (!) clippage.
Good night.
PS: Paul Bellini's ill, and there's a gofundme: https://www.gofundme.com/f/paul-bell...eeds-your-helpLast edited by Barry M; 11-29-2024, 02:21 PM.

The Flesh and the Fiends: I'd heard the title before, but I had no idea this was a movie about Burke and Hare, nor that it starred not only Peter Cushing but Donald Pleasence as well. In any case, it was definitely an interesting watch, and what really shocked is that, in this black-and-white movie from 1960, there's a scene with full-on naked women! I just about dropped my teeth. I know England had different standards than America back then but, man, I was not expecting that. It's also pretty grisly at moments for the time as well, with a murder scene that's also a sexual assault.
