Dalton as Bond and Kilmer as Batman were both victims of being perfect for the role, but stuck in movies that screwed up the character.

I like it because it has gore. Who would ever expect an exploding head in a Bond film? Fucking amazing!
Why would anybody watch a scum show like Videodrome? Why did you watch it, Max?

So much good stuff. Torture by sharks, cocaine hidden in maggots, stretchy explosive head. Davi, Del Toro and Priscilla Barnes. It has a great mean streak running through it. I feel like it's the truest on-screen Bond, the one closest to the books.

I have weird taste in Bonds. I prefer the classic Connery era. Outside that I like Lazenby and the two Dalton films. The only other Bond film I really love is NEVER SAY NEVER AGAIN. I've still yet to watch any Daniel Craig Bonds. I like Brosnan and Moore as actors but I don't like their Bond films.

        • My favorite Bond film is ON HER MAJESTY'S SECRET SERVICE, but Connery is my pick for best Bond. The Craig films are oh-so serious and grim, even with the action scenes they're just not much fun.

Same here. My favourite Bond is Roger Moore and my two favourites are THE MAN WITH THE GOLDEN GUN and OCTOPUSSY. I watched them both endlessly when I was growing up. I must've watched GOLDEN GUN at least 25 times when I was a little kid.

The Craig Casino Royale is my favourite of all Bond films, taking the place of Licensed to Kill when I saw it. Best Bond theme song, too. It seems to be like the classic Bond themes, but the lyrics are extremely grim.

              • We should have a James Bond thread. I think the new Bond looks great. Looks a little heavy on the running around with machines guns theme but if they're going that direction it looks like they are doing it well.

I have reasonably conventional Bond takes. I thought Casino Royale and Skyfall were exceptional. Other favourites are Thunderball, On Her Majesties Secret Service, The Spy Who Loved Me and Dr No.

                • A Bond thread would be good! Maybe Ian can split these posts into a thread of their own? And include my two older posts as well:

                  • We watched the Arrow Blu of Switchblade Sisters earlier. Looks amazing sounds great. And has some decent extras. Am I right in remembering the old DVD had a commentary track with Quintin Tarrentino?

I have the UK DVD. I thought I enjoyed Tenney's movies until I watched this.

I don't think I have seen any of his other films but thought it was OK and laughed more than I probably should have. Rips off pretty most other Sci-Fi films and didn't really make much sense but guess I was just in the mood.
