    Haha! My cherry is broken.

Had a double bill of the two Sweeney movies last night, highly recommended!

    • Home Alone - It was on TV while I was working on other stuff but I guess it counts.

But then once the guy gets captured, the pace slows to a crawl (and isn't helped by the ridiculously badly spliced-in animal footage while he's in the hole.)
I'm the opposite, I think it gets going once he's captured. The movie it self is slow though.

        • Also, finally watched Four Flies on Grey Velvet. Pretty boring. I can't really remember anything that stood out except for the fact that you can see the elements that would later be used -for far better effect- in Deep Red.

          • I've finally broken into COLDITZ. THE COLDITZ STORY's great, and this feels like even more of the great. Six episodes and I can feel the walls closing in. Really liked how it took its time to bring the characters onstage: it's four episodes before we reach the castle, and we're still doing introductions. Like M*A*SH or Barney Miller it's one of those series where the identification is irresistible, and it affects how you see everyday life: I haven't begun to hang bags of sand down my pantslegs yet, but I'm digging the endurance. It's like botox for the upper lip, with free pencil-thin mustache. It's going to be a long war, I hope.

            • DJANGO SHOOTS FIRST - Always liked this one, it's nothing original but all the elements of a good spaghetti western are there. Glenn Saxson is suitably scruffy and it's kinda nice to see Fernando Sancho in a rare good guy role. Evelyn Stewart and Erika Blanc give it some zest, with the latter looking particularly gorgeous here. The Bruno Nicolai score has grown on me a lot. Those of you who will be watching this on the Westerns Unchained BD see if you recognize the actor who has a cameo near the end as a mysterious gunfighter - he went on Italian horror infamy.

              • Confessions of an Opium Eater -This is one weird ass movie. It was one of the few Vincent Price films I hadn't seen and waited until the dvd-r was on sale to pick it up. Maybe my expectations were too ...high? (Pun intended). Dope smoking, slave girls, crazed hatchet waving tongs and Vinnie as a two fisted adventurer will take you on a bad trip to whatthefuckland. Pretty sure if you had taken heavy medication or indulged in some herbal recreation beforehand this flick would be a doozy. May have to watch it again. And did I mention the midget "Chinese" lady?

                • Christmas theme today:
Long Kiss Good Night on DVD followed by Die Hard 2 on TV. Speaking of LKGN I must say that mainstream hollywood has become a much shittier place since Shane Black stopped writing R-rated action.

                    I love DIE HARD 2.

Dennis Franz is awesome in it. Its good when comedy relief is actually funny.

                      • Doctor Who & The Daleks - I don't like some of the changes that they made to the Doctor but Cushing is fun in the role and the Daleks themselves are pretty great and get loads of screen time.

Got this triple feature Something Weird Video dvd in today. And love it. Zodiac Killer is the best of the three films. But all of them are worth watching.

                              • Miami Connection - watched it with some family members who needed to see it. Followed that up with a viewing of Gojira, which is still awesome. After that it was time for Jingle All The Way. Arnold has made some bad movies, this might be his worst. And for some reason after that we watched Spaceballs. Some of these were not my picks.
