  • Pinky Violence and Roman Porno stuff, there's a lot of rape in both segments. It doesn't seem to be as taboo in Japanese pop culture for whatever reason. I can understand why it'd make some uneasy - I guess I've just built up a tolerance too it, it doesn't usually bug me so much (there are exceptions of course).

    • It's true, it barely phases me, especially the completely unrealistic stuff. People being affected by Rape Squad baffles me.

Yeah, I just watched ROLLING THUNDER the other day. He was kinda dangerous in that.

I guess tolerance levels are just different for different people. These things are just movies, realistically, and either way you look at it it's a case of "if you don't like the ride, get off the bus". But some people out there feel that need to "belong", and want to be seen as part of the in-crowd (when it comes to the online genre community), and I've noticed that usually they're the first people to cry foul when something pops up that offends their delicate sensibilities.

Rape in movies always makes be go "ick" a bit, but I'm a big boy and handle a movie where people are acting and playing fictional characters from a script. I'm certainly not the type who is going to say "Hey, what's x movie like?" and then flame you all because it contained material that was a big stronger than I expected. But when it comes to a lot of Asian films, usually it's a lot less strong than you anticipate because of the manner in which they portray things (usually either so cartoonish, or so OTT, you can't take it seriously.

Thus...carry on regardless and I'll be watching the next Rica film soon. ;)

          • Last night....

Due Date - a perfectly entertaining comedy that requires absolutely no thought whatsoever. It made me laugh, which is all I wanted out of it.

Szamanka - from one extreme to the other, this one was pretty cerebral, tripped out, perverse and strange in that manner Zulawski does so well.

            • I don't remember what we watched on Friday.

Saturday we watched the 1st episode of The Walking Dead and for some reason we followed it up with Bat Pussy and Aphrodisiac. It made sense at the time, and it hurt so good.

Sunday... Miami Connection and Lemmy (well most of it, still need to finish it and will tonight, but so far it's really damn good).

Nothing. We were too busy having BBQ.

                • We watched KILLING MACHINE last night and marveled at Sonny Chiba's awesomeness.

                  • Killing Machine really is one of his best ball ripping fuck-you up's.

I wish more Chiba had made it to Blu-ray. With BCI gone I don't see that happening though, unless Mill Creek steps up.

Quit messing with that and start working on your Full House project.

                            • Big Tits Dragon (2010) -- maybe the longest 74 minutes of recent memory. This one's the epitome of dull. The only inspired moment is the stripper who turns into a zombie with a fanged, fire-breathing vagina. Otherwise, it's all pretty banal. For a film with the name it has, there's a surprising lack of boobies as well; only two short scenes lasting a few seconds a piece, although one is in 3D. And the 3D is anaglyph which ghosts badly, thus it doesn't really work all that well. My rating: dull, duller and bland.
