Sharky's Machine is probably my fave. It has a little bit of everything: bloody violence, sleazy sex, and Henry Silva! I saw it in the theater with my parents, too.

The Longest Yard, Gator, & White Lightning are cool when I come across them on cable. I don't need to own them.

Is it me or does Raquel look like Madeline Kahn?

                  Amazing is an understatement.

That book adds more justification for the Burt Reynolds man-crush.

No US release that I know of (but I have the first one on Blu-ray and I DON'T CARE WHO KNOWS IT!), but hey, here it is in HD from Australia. We can all sleep a little easier now.

Nothing to be ashamed of Ian. Cannonball Run is the greatest movie ever made (with Smokey & The bandit a close second). I have the second Cannonball Run on Swedish Blu. It's fun but nowhere near as good as the first masterpiece.

I remember seeing the second film at the drive-in as a kid with my dad. I think these movies are responsible for my love of Dean Martin and probably my first introduction to Burt (though I may have seen Smokey & The Bandit first, I honestly can't remember).

In theory CANNONBALL RUN should be amazing but it bombed hard with my family a few months ago. I doubt there was script and many of the gags were painfully unfunny. I was really disappointed with how the film alternates between between raunchy rated R comedy and a kids film. A good portion of the film is good natured family fun but then they add rape jokes and Jackie Chan masturbating to a porn video. I get that it was the 80's but it hurts the film that they aren't more consistent. The main draw of the film is seeing Burt's gang and the ensemble cast goof off and have fun, but even that is hampered by some mean-spirited jokes peppered throughout. And there are times when Burt comes off like a real a-hole. Are we supposed to be having fun or aren't we?

Smokey and the Bandit was a huge hit with my family (it's an alltime favorite of mine) and I'm anxiously waiting for STROKER ACE to get an HD release. I'm really hoping it holds up better than Cannonball Run.

The fathers who're muthers are a fantastic comedy duo. "Remember our car? Two seats. If god's our co-pilot, where's he gonna sit? Where's he gonna sit?!" I smile just thinking about them.

Burt must've had the time of his life making these and it shows. Cannonball Run was also my first glimpse of Jackie Chan and I remember watching his scenes during the big rowdy brawl on repeat thinking it was the coolest thing ever. Imagine how much my mind was further blown once I got to Winners & Sinners, Dragons Forever, Drunken master 2, etc, etc, etc.

Sure, some of Cannonball Run is "dated", when viewed through current glasses, but that's opinion. It's harmless hilarious fun. I watch Cannonball Run a couple of times every year. I love it dearly and it never gets old. A lot of these people are gone and the rest are starting to go so it's also a nice time capsule of big stars goofing off with each other.

I have a mustasche. I feel it might be Burt who has inspired me to go this route with my facial hair.
