Don't know this Renoir, I'm not that familiar with his American films.

Delmar Daves' 1954 epic heads to Blu-ray's arena in March.

In their latest press release, Twilight Time has revealed 'Demetrius and the Gladiators' is coming to Blu-ray on March 13.

The thrilling sequel to 'The Robe' (1953), 'Demetrius and the Gladiators' (1954) follows the further adventures of the Christian slave Demetrius (Victor Mature), sentenced to servitude as a gladiator in the Roman arena. There, his faith is tested in to-the-death combat and by the wiles of the seductive Messalina (Susan Hayward)—all under the obsessive eye of the mad Emperor Caligula (Jay Robinson). Director Delmer Daves brings epic sweep to the tale, supported by the bravura score of Franz Waxman (available here as an isolated track).

The Blu-ray will be limited to 3000 copies and will feature 1080p video, a DTS-HD Master Audio 4.0 soundtrack, and supplements include an isolated score track and liner notes by Julie Kirgo.

That BIG HEAT cover is literally the one of the best I've seen in a while. Its probably the only one out of the batch I would get, I already bought SWAMP WATER which I though had a stellar cast.

Oh yeah, that BIG HEAT cover is easily the most striking film noir cover I've seen. I'll be getting that for sure. That film must sell pretty well, it had a stand-alone release, then was part of a set, and now a BD. Wish some more of Lang's American films would hit BD - like WOMAN IN THE WINDOW, MINISTRY OF FEAR, MAN HUNT, WHILE THE CITY SLEEPS, and THE BLUE GARDENIA.
I don't go to church. Kneeling bags my nylons.

I actually like it. I think Nicholson is really good in it. But I still don't know whether I will pick it up. That's one title I feel pretty sure will see a region B release.
