Author James Sallis has written a sequel to drive, imaginatively called 'Driven' ...

Would LOVE if Gosling and REFN got together for it......but not sure if they want to bother with making sequels....

Although I'd definitely watch a sequel if the two of them got back together to make it, I'm completely okay with the movie ending the way it does and leaving it at that.

I've read DRIVEN. It was pretty good (Sallis' prose is always enjoyable, at least for my money), but I don't know if it's 'worthy' of a big screen adaptation - a 'straight' adaptation would essentially be more of the same, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but... There are some clever observations on Hollywood and storytelling, however.

yeah thats the ONLY problem I can see the sequel maybe falling into...being too much the same as the original.....

I don't know why it took me so long to finally watch this but I finally did. Only other Refn film I've seen before this was Valhalla Rising which I really liked and thought it was one most unique films to have come out in recent years. The build up in Drive is a little slow but once it gets going it doesn't really stop. Really enjoyed it. Best described as an arthouse action flick. Now I need to see Only God Forgives, Bronson, Fear X, and the Pusher Trilogy.

                    Coming 8/27/24.

Ryan Gosling stars as a Hollywood stunt driver for movies by day and moonlights as a wheelman for criminals by night. Though a loner by nature, “Driver” can’t help falling in love with his beautiful neighbor Irene (Carey Mulligan), a young mother dragged into a dangerous underworld by the return of her ex-convict husband. After a heist goes wrong, Driver finds himself driving defense for the girl he loves, tailgated by a syndicate of deadly serious criminals (Albert Brooks and Ron Perlman). Soon he realizes the gangsters are after more than the bag of cash and is forced to shift gears and go on the offense.
