I definitely missed something along the way in movie nerdom! My earliest memory is real boobies -- as me and my brother (I was about 10 or 11, which would have made my bro' 7 or 8) were swimming in a hotel pool here in Perth, back in the days when we used to come up as a family holiday from the coast, and some French guests at the hotel brought their teenage daughters down for a dip...who promptly jumped in, bikini bottoms only. At that point Mum suggested to Dad that it was a good idea to "take the boys back to the room"...

Maybe this is why I am so blase about all of this stuff many, many years on? Plus, full-frontal nudity was okay on free-to-air TV in Oz from back in the seventies... ;)

LOGAN'S RUN. Jenny Agutter. Then a few years later Jenny Agutter again in AN AMERICAN WEREWOLF IN LONDON although I didn't even know it was the same person.

I was always interested in the opposite sex, even before I started school as family friends had a daughter my age who I used to play with all the time. I guess, in a minor way, film opened my eyes beyond what I knew from what I was exposed to in regular daily life - but the interest was always there so essentially film had little to negigible impact in the bigger picture.

I can't point to a particular film. My interest started when I was 3 or 4, looking at my dad's girlie mags. I think I was born horny.

I remember mine well. I was 12, maybe 13, and innocent for my age having had quite the sheltered upbringing. At around midnight one dark winters evening Channel 4 broadcast Girl On A Motorcycle. I haven't seen the film since but the opening scene is forever engraved on the back of my retinas. Marrianne Faithful crawls out of bed in her birthday suit, slides into a suit of leathers (sans underwear) and hops straight onto the back of a motorcycle for some of the most unconvincing rear projection action this side of a Hitchcock film and BOOM! just like that I was in love. I think I still had pretty fuzzy ideas about what it was one did with a woman but from that moment I knew I wanted one.

I was glued to the screen for the rest of the film knowing that if a movie started with a bang like that then there must be plenty more similar action to come. I was to be very disappointed.
Working...
