Criterion producer Curtis Tsui just confirmed THE DEVIL'S BACKBONE during an interview at the Wexner Center.

Some other confirmations at the talk: BADLANDS, ON THE WATERFRONT (presented in 3 aspect ratios: 1.66, 1.33, 1.85), SHOAH, a Satyajit Ray release (maybe the APU trilogy depending on the elements), maybe Bernard's LES MISERABLES, a pre-code title they couldn't talk about (maybe a Warner Brothers title as the discussion occurred when they were asked if they finally had a deal with WB), and Blu-ray upgrades of THE LIFE AND DEATH OF COLONEL BLIMP and RICHARD III.

A bit more news from the Wexner Center event. A mod at the criterionforum got a tweet from the Wexner Center that said that Kim Hendrickson told them that FOREIGN CORRESPONDENT will "likely" be released next year and they hope to release I MARRIED A WITCH in 2013 as well.

Watched the ROSEMARY'S BABY BD over the weekend. It truly is a thing of beauty. I'm looking forward to watching the documentaries, particularly the one on Komeda. This film is one of those that gets better every time I watch it, the quality of the performances as a whole is pretty amazing. One of those rare perfect adaptations of a good book.

You know what one of the weirdest things about the film is? Seeing Miss Clara from THE ANDY GRIFFITH SHOW saying "Hail Satan!"...wow....I can't imagine how downright Lynchian that must have been at the time for someone who regularly watched TAGS.
I don't go to church. Kneeling bags my nylons.

DVDbeaver uploaded screen captures from HEAVEN'S GATE:

A confused and frustrating film, but fascinating and emotionally gripping.

Bad history, wrong-headed and inaccurate, but a good western.
          Kristofferson never gets enough credit.

how come there's a Spaghetti Westerns thread but no Westerns thread here?

True in both music and film. He's very underrated. I've never seen Heaven's Gate. I should probably remedy that.

Well ... I'll start one, or chime in if someone else gets there first.

HEAVEN'S GATE is an unforgettable experience on the big screen. If the opportunity arises to see it with an audience in a darkened theater don't hesitate to travel vast distances and brave adverse weather and smash through police barriers if that's what it takes. Although the film is frustrating and in some ways annoying it is pure cinema. There's no other western like it.

I understand Cimino's new mix removes a lot of the filters and gels Vilmos Szigmond applied when shooting the film. I'm curious to see how it will look on November 20. The blu-ray is an absolute must.

That's great news about MINISTRY OF FEAR. I love that film. Fritz Lang, Ray Milland, and Dan Duryea...good stuff.
