Damn you for not doing those Japanese horror films on Blu-ray, Criterion!
Dear Quentin Tarantino, Please make Criterion release Goke in Blu.

December titles announced! Nothing as cool as the Shochicku horror set, but the 'good cut' of Brazil on Blu-ray would be nice...

Purple Noon's pretty cool for Patricia Highsmith fans. I don't think I ever hunted this down in its previous releases.

Yeah, really excited about PURPLE NOON. It's not the best HIghsmith adaptation - the Ripley books seem to be somewhat difficult to do truly great adaptations. It's good though and all I have is the vhs so I'm game.
I don't go to church. Kneeling bags my nylons.

                from Criterion's facebook page
"Check out who stopped by the office yesterday!"

another sign that Badlands is happening.

I hated this film when I first saw it. Warmed up to it considerably on a subsequent viewing. The BD looks pretty rad.

                        I hope so.
There have been rumours that there won't be another.

I'll buy it anyway. It's be awesome to get it for half off, but I honestly don't think that I can live without that set.

I'll be getting it too (although I think I can wait and see if I get it for Christmas before I buy it myself.) At least the RASHOMON Blu-ray and Pasolini's TRILOGY OF LIFE Blu-ray box set are getting released during the sale.

A couple of Criterion rumors: one of the guys from the Criterion Cast tweeted a rumor that Guillermo del Toro told The Nerdist podcast that Criterion will be releasing THE DEVIL'S BACKBONE (the podcast hasn't been posted, as soon as it is I'll give it a listen) and Edward Yang's widow confirmed that Criterion will be releasing A BRIGHTER SUMMER DAY (this has been tied up because they needed to clear the Elvis songs featured in the film.)
