Seems like the current trend is taking old tv series ( like Baywatch) and playing them as comedy....

Yeah you are right...

This new lot are bigger budgeted loud comedy/action flicks with famous actors though...those ones from the '90's were pretty low key compared to these...and didnt stray too far from their original incarnations...

This one just looks like ANY buddy action comedy movie...they share the same job and names of original characters..thats about it by the looks of things..

At least with those the first 2 Brady Bunch and Addams Family movies were decent. Most of these modern movies based on TV shows are at the level of that Honeymooners movie with Cedric the Entertainer.

Exactly..and they at least TRIED to stick pretty closely to the spirit of the originals..

I saw this a week or 2 ago, and thought it sucked, they made it an obscene comedy. I have no problem with obscene comedies, but CHIPS was one of my favorite childhood series, and the way they ruined it was a disappointment. They made John a drug addict, and Ponch a sex freak, it was just a big disappointment. And the language was like something from a modern day porno. I have no problem with this kind of movie or something, but I mean the series was for kids, and the way they ruined it was sad.
