Brian Herbert sent this out on twitter.

"It's official -- Legendary Pictures has signed the very talented Denis Villeneuve to direct the exciting new DUNE series film project."

I dunno. I like Lynch's film but there's room for improvement. Denis Villeneuve seems to be in pretty high demand right now - Blade Runner, now this.

I'm not surprised. I'd prefer Jodorowsky's take of course but I'm not a big Sci Fi guy. I tried watching Lynch's Dune at least 2-3 times and just couldn't pull through it. And I'm a guy who loves abstract mindfucker movies.

Normally I am against this, but since every rendition of Dune in film or TV has been pretty shitty, perhaps one more try won't hurt.

Yeah, I managed to get through it in one viewing, but it was an endurance test. I don't think I'd ever watch it again.
Why would anybody watch a scum show like Videodrome? Why did you watch it, Max?

You mean to say that the Sci Fi channel miniseries wasn't a grand achievement?

That is exactly what I am saying yes.

They should wait and see how the new Blade Runner turns out before giving this movie the green light...

Now moost people interested have seenwhat Dune SHOULD be like thanks to Jodorowsky...anythong else will just be a disappointment...

Same here. Took me a few tries, finally got through it one time. Never again.

So the Dune remake is going to be written by the guy who wrote Forrest Gump.

To be fair, he also wrote THE POSTMAN and THE HORSE WHISPERER.

And he also wrote that AIRPORT movie with the Concorde.
