  • Odd films or genres you collect

For myself I have always had a thing for PM Entertainment Group and their cheesy DTV actioners, with their stunt heavy plots and 90s fashion uglyness.

For some time I have tried to collect them all on DVD. A very daunting task, since many of them having never been released on the format, and the ones that have are all out of print. But I am slowling making progress on the subject. Especially since quite a few of em pop up at second hand stores and on amazon and the likes.

What odd genres or studios or the like do you lot collect?

Ah...the great PM ENTERTAINMENT...pretty much trying to carry on where Cannon left off....

And yes, always to be found in the bargain bucket!!!

I mist have seen the.majority of them when I worked a video store back in the late 90s/ early 2000s...wouldnt collect them though!!!!

PM Entertainment's library consisted of over 150 films and 2 TV series.
How many do you have Swede?

Myself, I tried to collect the rarer pinku and Roman Porno movies...was harder back then as no one was releasing them legitimately outside of Japan on the whole (except for a precious few)..so a great deal of effort was recquired to track them down and get to watch them....also the gory newer movies like Mu Zan E, tumbling dolls of flesh etc...was more about the hunt for them rather than any greatness in the movies themselves though....

I have sadly only aprox 40-45 of their films :(

Though I would like to think those are the best ones, the sci-fi and martial arts ones.

I dig PM Entertainment. There is some nostalgia for the early days of DVD and scanning the shelves at Best Buy. I have at least watched the trailers for most of their films. I own about a dozen. I like their Sci-fi but most off all I pick up there trashy crime flicks and T&A comedies.

        Alien Intruder (1993)
        Alley Cat (1984)
        Art of Dying, The (1991)
        Cellblock Sisters: Banished Behind Bars
        Bikini Summer (1991)
        Bikini Summer 2 (1992)
        C.I.A. Codename: Alexa (1992)
        CIA II: Target Alexa (1993)
        Final Impact (1992)
        Ring of Fire (1991)
Ring of Fire 2: Blood and Steel (1993)
Ring of Fire 3: Lion Strike (1998)
        Skyscraper (1995)
        To the Limit (1995)
        Under Lock and Key (1995)

I recently completed a complete collection of Sybil Danning's Adventure Video. It took over four years and $700. I hope to take some pictures once I get my media closet finished.

I collect all Pinky Violence and 80's slashers I can get my hands on.
I'll buy just about any Sonny Chiba, Angela Mao and Paul Naschy release.

I'm very aggressive at obtaining films that contain the actresses:
          Michelle Bauer
          Linnea Quigley
          Kathleen Kinmont
          Maria Ford
          Cassandra Peterson (Elvira)
          Melissa Moore
          Tiffany Shepis

I'm more director oriented and have tried to collect all the sexploitation films of Doris Wishman, Lee Frost, Armand Weston, Chuck Vincent, etc.

None of these seem quite 'odd' to me :) I've got big collections of HK action films of the 1980s and 1990s, a collection of every Dolph Lundgren film to hit DVD/BD, a gathering of Steven Seagal films that is a couple of years behind (simply owing to the rate at which a new Seagal picture is released these days), another collection of Van Damme pictures, and what I would think to be the norm round these parts (as many Italian thrilling and poliziesco pictures as I can lay my hands on, various European directors and stars - Henri Verneuil, Belmondo, Mario Bava, Paul Naschy, and the ubiquitous Jess Franco collection).

I guess 'odd' is a very subjective term as, to me, none of these are 'odd' at all - but I guess, if a stranger walked into my house and saw these, they might think they were a little off-centre.

Danish pornography from the 70s. God I love this shit. They're like Carry On but with hot naked Danish women who make a strong case for being some of the hottest naked people in the world. What's the name of the little tubby fella who never participates in the sex scenes in the Sign Of films? Anything he's in particularly.

The album The Golden Age Of Danish pornography is great too and gets far too much play in my house.

I collect time travel films or films having to do with time displacement. I also like to focus on weird obscure Actors/Directors and collect everything they've done, Robert Z'Dar, Joe Estevez, Martin Kove. Not household names by any stretch. Right now I'm into collecting Shaw Brothers films, who most have never heard of, even Chinese people I talk to have no clue about them.

i have some audio tapes from Goodwill. mostly microcasettes but some standard size. these are kinda tough to find. strange things on them. one has a psychic reading. a work dispute on another. one starts with a bit of guitar strumming then goes into post-divorce answering machine messages that get a bit nasty.

i do have more but these are a few of the standouts

When I was younger I was collecting all things Aya Ueto. I got all kinds of stuff, but I failed to acquire the most important item: Aya herself

I used to be collecting Kitano, Kim Ki-duk, Nobuhiro Yamashita and Hideo Gosha films. I had nearly complete collections. Also Jackie Chan HK films. And Pinky Violence films. About 7 years ago I realized I don't need to have complete collections (with Jackie it was after Rob-B-Hood that I said to myself "fuck this shit"). Just having the films I really enjoy is enough. So I got rid of some of the stuff.

Now the closest thing I come to "collecting" is Sonny Chiba films. But this is more about seeing every Chiba film, not necessarily owning. I'm happy if I have the best ones + some cool rarities and a few collector's items. Quality, not quantity.

I do understand the collector mentality, though. I used to be one, and in some ways still am. Now I'm trying to have a nice library of good films from my favourite genres and filmmakers, not every film regardless of quality.

The oddest genres in my collection are:

                        1) Porn
                        2) Pinky violence
                        3) Roman Porno

All these genres only really caught my interest thanks to the internet
