Yay! I finally managed to get 8 out the 9 classic Japanese ghost movies released on DVD in Greece and Japan some ten years ago with English subs. When I first discovered they had been released, it was already too late and most were long OOP. But recently a Greek seller on eBay popped up with new copies of all the nine Greeks DVD ports for sale. I just got all but Jigoku which I already had from Criterion:

The Ghost of Kasane Swamp (Kaidan kasane ga fuchi, Nobuo Nakagawa, 1956)
Black Cat Mansion/ Mansion of the Ghost Cat (Bí´rei kaibyí´ yashiki, Nobuo Nakagawa, 1958)
Lady Vampire (Onna kyí»ketsuki, Nobuo Nakagawa, 1959)
Ghost Story of Yotsuya (Tí´kaido yotsuya kaidan, Nobuo Nakagawa, 1959)
Ghost Story of Yotsuya (Yotsuya kaidan, Masaki Mori, 1956)
Ghost Story - Depth of Kagami (Kaidan Kagami ga fuchi, Masaki Mori, 1959)
Ghost of Chibusa Enoki (Kaidan chibusa enoki, Gorí´ Kadono, 1958)
The Ghost Cat of Otoma Pond (Kaibyo otoma ga ike, Yoshihiro Ishikawa, 1960)

Criterion supposedly sits on the rights to a couple of them. But they have done so for years with no sign whatsoever that they are ever going to release any. Perhaps Jigoku did not perform as well as they had hoped?

Anyway, I am just happy to finally get my hands on these. :up:

Those Japanese ghost DVDs sound great. Please review them in detail and make Criterion feel guilty so they'll release theirs (a budget Eclipse set would be great).
