                  • I just registered here, so thought I'd post something of substance. My wife had business in NYC last week, so while she was in meetings, I took the opportunity to wander around the East Village on Friday morning/afternoon. I hadn't been to Kim's Video since back when it was still on St. Mark's, so I stopped into the newer 1st Ave location. Although it's generally a few bucks cheaper to shop online, it's still a treat to peruse the shelves of a bona fide video store (Scarecrow Video in Seattle offers a similar experience if you're in the Pacific Northwest). After about an hour and a half of scouring the shelves, I walked out with the following DVDs:

                    A Bell From Hell
                    Lorna The Exorcist
Vampires, Mummies and Monsters Collection (mostly for Lady Frankenstein)
                    Slaughter Hotel
Satan's Baby Doll (found a used copy)

By the way, if you're in the area and feeling hungry after shopping, I highly recommend Luke's Lobster around the corner for a delicious lunch and then maybe wandering down the street to Butter Lane for a tasty cupcake for dessert.

In other DVD purchasing news, I've been on a serious giallo kick lately, and the recent Deep Discount sale afforded me the opportunity to flesh out my collection a bit. I picked up the following older titles that had been on my wish list for a few years now:

                    Seven Blood Stained Orchids
                    Spasmo
                    My Dear Killer
                    Knife Of Ice

From Wal-Mart's "Black Friday" sale picked up late in the afternoon for $5 each:
                      Land Of The Dead
Fantastic Four/ FF 2 Rise Of The Silver Surfer
"The popcorn you're eating has been pissed in. Film at 11".

                        • Pasolini really brings out the best in Tyler Perry.

Glamour Girls boxset (Kino): The Blue Angel, Love Me Tonight, The Good Fairy, Lured, Pandora and the Flying Dutchman

I've been digging the pre-codes recently, and really wanted LOVE ME TONIGHT.

                              Barney's Version (DVD)

I am so cheap that I always opt for the DVD instead of the Blu-Ray despite the cost being just like $3 or 4 lower.

The Mel Gibson movie? The company I work for sent a TV to the production to appear in the movie. Hooray for product placement!
