  • Passion Of The Christ 2 : The Resurrection

Lol...is Mel REALLY thinking about doing this?

Mel Gibson and writer Randall Wallace are working on a sequel to The Passion of the Christ that will tell the story of the resurrection of Jesus, Wallace tells The Hollywood Reporter.

I know the first one made a load of money...and old Mel is supposedly ultra-religious....but as he JUST seems to be at the point where he can be in films again after all his troubles maybe this is not a wise move..then again, what do I know???

    Poster suggestion:

JCVD* in a hoody standing before mouth of cave, head slightly down but coming up, shadowed eyes glaring, visibly angry, outspead arms with flagrums held ready.

    Tagline: FLOG THIS

    * actual movie contains no JCVD, just JC; not sure about VD

I still havent seen the first one. But as for sequels I am hoping they have one in space, like they did with the Hellraiser, Dracula, Fortress and Friday the 13th franchises. If they do, I am totally seeing that.

I actually sort of enjoyed PotC. I like the fact that they speak Hebrew and Latin in it as well as the extremely violent and sadistic focus on the suffering of Jesus (which is kind of fetishistic, almost sexual to the catholics).

Also your name suggestions are HILARIOUS!

Never saw the first one but was reading yesterday how much money it took in Vs. cost.......( something like 30 mil to make and raked in over 600 mil. )
After reading that I can't believe they waited so long to cash in again!

The Jesus Chainsaw Massacre is the highest grossing R rated movie of all time. 2nd highest grossing R picture is Deadpool.

So, speaking seriously for a moment, I think Mel just wants to cash in on a sequel. Maybe do a little bit of personal redeeming by not making a Christian Gore flick.

                    Now watch it flop horribly.

I remember that part of the controversy was that it was largely pushed by the Catholic Church (in spite of the "Oh, no, we don't believe in that jew-hating stuff anymore") and that they were arranging busloads of their youth groups to see it at the theatre, R-Rating be damned. Always found it interesting that extreme violence in that situation was okay...more than okay, let's take our kids to it by the busload....but other R-Rated movies were slammed by the church, especially when it came to their effect on the kids.
