It is brutal, yes, but if you truly hated the film before, it's not going to change your mind. Also, haven't seen it quite a while, but wasn't the rape rather tough even in the R rated version?

The rape is tough enough in the r. I don't realllly need to see more.

Is that the only difference or are there other cuts? (Trying to avoid spoilers for others; I've seen the film.)

Edit: Eh, never mind. IMDb to the rescue. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0082250/alternateversions

That's a good point. I just remember thinking it was so lifeless. I know I'll watch it again just to see it uncut, and who knows, maybe I'll like it this time!
Why would anybody watch a scum show like Videodrome? Why did you watch it, Max?

II is the only Death Wish sequel I genuinely like. The next three are just guilty pleasures for me. It isn't in the same league of filmmaking as the original but it's top draw exploitation at its sleaziest.

I've got good news regrading the transfer on this disc: the unrated cut looks much better than the theatrical. Shout has obviously done a new scan and there's no insert footage (as I had feared). The theatrical cut is way too bright and actually looks pretty terrible (perhaps it was taken directly from the previous MGM blu?).

Thanks for the info, Matt. I'm looking forwards to getting my hands on this.

Also, I feel that the Shout! release is much sharper and has better grain structure than the one put out by NSM Records.

Paul Talbot kills it on this commentary. Could definitely listen to dude speak all day. His voice is the American equivalent of Werner Herzog's.

I know, I put the commentary on when I went to bed, but I had to shut it off because it was too interesting. I couldn't fall asleep.
