I guess a more accurate title would be dumb opinions about movies from casual movie viewers. I hang out with people who are mostly casual movie viewers and definitely not movie lovers who know their stuff. Sometimes, they share opinions about movies that befuddle me. Meaning, I have no idea what brings them to the conclusions they make. Examples:
1. Aliens was a movie that shouldn't have been made in the '80s because special effects weren't advanced enough to show multiple aliens. I guess I can understand this one, but the guy seemed to ignore the qualities that make Aliens a great flick and just nag about something that seems trivial. Either way, he felt that Resurrection pulled off the more-than-one alien story line successfully.
2. Same guy, similar feelings, Army of Darkness was a movie that was meant more for the '80s than early '90s because of special effects. At least, I think that's what he was trying to say. He might have been trying to say that AOD was more of an "80s style" movie than something that could have been released in the '90s. On a similar note, I met another guy who said the Fright Night remake had an "80s style" vibe to it. What the hell is an '80s style?
3. Clint Eastwood stole his facial expressions from Henry Fonda. This was a more recent conversation that got me thinking about this. He kept referring to him as Henry Ford and at first, I thought he was trying to say that Eastwood took ideas from John Ford. I guess he was trying to say that Clint Eastwood took his style of acting from Henry Fonda and said his performance in The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly reminded him of Fonda.
Anyway, I'm not sure what to think because their views are confusing to me. On an end note, another friend insisted that Charles Bronson was a woman beater. Not sure if he was joking or sincere.
