Blue Thunder (1983)

Watched this with Horace the other day... it's a pretty solid action film that is elevated by the strength of its cast. You've got Roy Scheider and Malcolm McDowell, who both look like they're having a blast duking it out (Scheider has fun mocking McDowell's accent and McDowell has fun being McDowell). Meanwhile, Warren Oates looks on bemusedly behind his aviator sunglasses as the conspiracy shenanigans escalate to a climactic dogfight where US F-16 jets fire missiles and blow up half of the city, sending a rain of BBQ chicken into the streets at one point.

Oh yeah - dug this movie as a kid AND it actually uses properly the phrase "getting your picture taken" in it. And don't forget the young Daniel Stern as the A/V club geek rookie.
