  • Five Blu-ray Labels Saving Physical Media

There's a good article here worth checking out:

    http://bloody-disgusting.com/editori...hysical-media/

They make the case for five 'boutique' labels that are keeping physical media alive and well based on what they release and how they release it.

    Scream Factory
    Arrow Video
    Vinegar Syndrome
    Synapse Films
    Kino Lorber

Pretty hard to argue with those choices at this point in the game.

It's a toughie considering its only top 5 but

I would also add Mondo Macabro and Severin,

    Possibly Blue Underground and Redemption

Redemption is included under the Kino Lorber umbrella on their list.

Great labels all though I'd rate Mondo Macabro above all of them except Arrow. Christ Arrows releasing a lot of stuff at the moment... And as for them keeping the format alive I recently wrote to Arrow and asked if they would offer downloads at some point and they couldn't be bothered to reply so I'd say they're all in.

I love Mondo Macabro, but with just 3 Blu-ray releases, it's hard for me to put them on a list of "Blu-ray Labels Saving Physical Media" at all, no less over any of the 5 that Bloody Disgusting chose.

According to the link, the list is supposed to be for companies with "a strong focus on horror." I think it's fair to exclude Criterion.
