well Cecil Howard was totally unreasonable with Media Blasters, he was expecting to sell something like 1 million copies of each release. That was a fantasy, that's numbers for new blockbuster film releases not anywhere near the numbers of DVD's you'd sell of a porn movie from 1979. I mean yeah I wish they could sell a million copies, but get real, the average porn fan, doesn't even care or want to see old porn, they want the new stuff, and honestly if you are wanting hot porn, I'd say the new stuff blows the old stuff away, no one jacks off to old porn, or at least I never have, I don't find them that hot, they are more like low budget movies, with some sex thrown in, but new porn yeah it's way hotter on the sex parts. And even new porn if it sells 10,000 copies it's considered a blockbnuster of a release. I don't like new porn really though, but if you just want hot sex, that's where to look.

I wouldn't necessarily go by what the companies say on what elements they have. Arrow has long claimed to have an uncut print of DEEP THROAT 2 (the Sarno version) but it has never appeared.

There is a lack of trust with many of the adult companies and this stops them from making deals with other companies. They feel that they would be ripped off partially because they know they would if they were on the opposite side. Howard Winters would never make a deal with other companies (until the Media Blasters deal and that just confirmed to him not to trust other companies). Mitchell Brothers were the same since they were constantly being ripped off on their films.

VCX has the original negative for Devil in Miss Jones, Arrow announced years ago they had the original negative to Deep Throat, but it doesn't matter they aren't going to use them for any better releases, and I'm not going to buy their current releases, their choice not to release a good version of it, my choice to not buy it, I don't understand the mentality of well the product sucks, but I'm going to buy it anyhow, there are like a million other movies on DVD and Blu ray that are out in good releases we can buy, I don't even buy porn hardly ever anymore, because I demand a decent product otherwise why waste my money on it, I can buy stuff from companies like Synapse or Blue Underground, or Severin, etc. and get something that is well let's face it, a much better movie than Deep Throat, and it's out in a great release as well, unlike Deep Throat.

I've talked with David Sutton, he recognizes the difference between standard definition and high definition. He doesn't see releasing a Blu-ray of Debbie Does Dallas as profitable, which he is probably right on. He has considered releasing a high definition VOD release of Debbie Does Dallas. I can see why he wouldn't want to work with another company after the Media Blasters fiasco.

Deep Throat is owned by Arrow Film and Video, not VCX. I doubt it is licensing fees that are holding up a good release of Deep Throat but the lack of companies wanting to do a new scan of the CRI. The current scan was done by High Def Entertainment for their HD-DVD release of Deep Throat that ended up being DVD only. That release appears to have been fully licensed through Arrow.

Deep Throat transcends the adult video market. I can't imagine that a proper restoration wouldn't sell well to film collectors in general. If Rubinstein was finally able to get a company to pay the allegedly astronomical licensing fee for Dawn of the Dead in this market, I'd assume VCX could do pretty well licencing out Deep Throat. There's still a market for physical releases of genre films, but the physical media needs to be top quality in order to sell. Anyone can download or stream shit quality videos for free these days.

If he doesn't have a negative or print there are definitely prints around (I know this for a fact). You'd think he'd at least be willing to license it out to a reputable company like VS or Distribpix.

You have to remember that adult companies have different markets then mainstream companies. Their main market is not to collectors but to the adult video stores that are still around and various PPV sites. So it's understandable that David Sutton (VCX) feels that what he has is acceptable since he doesn't have access to sell to collectors nor would be profitable for him to attempt to. Another thing to remember is that they may not even have the negative or a print anymore on a number of these films. Most companies transferred them to tape masters long ago.

The Arrow version on DVD is not too bad, but then again it has the original music removed from the film and replaced with some crap they spliced into the movie, I really wish someone would releaser a good version of the most famous porn film ever made. But don't expect it from Arrow, our only hope is if Distribpix or Vinegar Syndrome somehow managed to get the rights to release it, but I doubt Arrow would allow that. I contacted VCX about releasing Devil in Miss Jones on Blu ray, they said there is no difference between DVD and Blu ray, so they will never release it on blu ray, of course the fact that they stretched the picture on Devil in Miss Jones from 1.66 to 1,.78 didn't seem to bother them, it just makes everyone look a bit fatter. Sadly they are not the only company that told me they don't care if the aspect ratio is screwed up.

There is an interview with Linda Lovelace shot shortly before her death. It is interesting but certainly not worth a purchase.
