anyone seen any reviews for Deep Throat online yet? It seems to have been released a day or 2 ago, so not sure if any reviews have popped up anywhere yet. I'm hoping it's not a clone of the European Blu Ray, but no way I'm ordering a porn blu ray without a review, because well we all know the great job porn companies do on their releases, at least companies other than Vinegar Syndrome and Distribpix.

Well, I'm glad I didn't buy it. I saw a review from blu ray forum where someone said it was atrocious and had DNR and looked like someone found a 500 mb file on the internet and put it on a disc. That doesn't sound good at all!

I saw that comment too, but then a poster above him said it looked good, so who knows.

MVD is sending me a copy. I'll get a review up once it arrives.

I'm tending to believe it looks like shit, rather than good, because I think this is a bootleg because there was a big lawsuit and all that determined Arrow films owned Deep Throat, and I don't think this is their dvd, so it's likely a bootleg.

Yes, AFV owns Deep Throat; however, that doesn't mean that they didn't license out the title to another company to release. AFV appears to be all but defunct at this point. Most of their DVDs are out of print. They are now only available via VOD. Many of their last releases were DVD-R only, never pressed discs. I don't have a contact at AFV to verify whether or not this was a licensed release.
AFV has licensed Deep Throat in the past. They licensed it to Hi Def Entertainment, that put out the release that used a 720p scan of the CRI. The same scan was later used for Intimate Film's Blu-ray of Deep Throat.
This Blu-ray is put out by Sunset Entertainment (which appears to be Cheezy Flicks/IMD Films but don't quote me on this). The sell sheet does state that the release also includes Deep Throat - Part 2 (which was recently released on Blu-ray by FILMmedia/After Hours Cinema.

Cheezy Flicks, oh god this gets worse and worse, I bought one of their dvd's a few years ago, it was horrendous quality, sub vhs I mean.

Seems like the horrible release I expected oh well I can take that $30 and buy something from Vinegar Syndrome a company that actually puts effort into their releases

                    • My review took longer than expected. Deep Throat itself looks like it was an upscale from the 720p master done ages ago from the CRI. Deep Throat - Part 2 is the 2016 After Hours Cinema scan done of the R-rated theatrical version in standard definition. Everything here has been offered before, sometimes in better shape. The disc definately isn't worth $30. If you don't yet own it, $10 to $15 might be okay at most.

                      • Actually, I was wondering what happened with this but kept forgetting to bring it up. I assume there's no extras except for part 2. I really have no interest in buying this anyway since I feel it's vastly overrated.

                        • There is an interview with Linda Lovelace shot shortly before her death. It is interesting but certainly not worth a purchase.

                          • Is there a version worth buying even on DVD?

                            • The Arrow version on DVD is not too bad, but then again it has the original music removed from the film and replaced with some crap they spliced into the movie, I really wish someone would releaser a good version of the most famous porn film ever made. But don't expect it from Arrow, our only hope is if Distribpix or Vinegar Syndrome somehow managed to get the rights to release it, but I doubt Arrow would allow that. I contacted VCX about releasing Devil in Miss Jones on Blu ray, they said there is no difference between DVD and Blu ray, so they will never release it on blu ray, of course the fact that they stretched the picture on Devil in Miss Jones from 1.66 to 1,.78 didn't seem to bother them, it just makes everyone look a bit fatter. Sadly they are not the only company that told me they don't care if the aspect ratio is screwed up.

                              • You have to remember that adult companies have different markets then mainstream companies. Their main market is not to collectors but to the adult video stores that are still around and various PPV sites. So it's understandable that David Sutton (VCX) feels that what he has is acceptable since he doesn't have access to sell to collectors nor would be profitable for him to attempt to. Another thing to remember is that they may not even have the negative or a print anymore on a number of these films. Most companies transferred them to tape masters long ago.
