The essay was written by Bill Landis and Michelle Clifford and originally appeared in METASEX.

Alpha Blue Archives has it reprinted on its site. Sadly, I used it for information on early Avon reviews and it turned out to be as accurate as Michelle Clifford's "Black and Blue" essay.

Yeah, I used it for some early writing about Avon films in Cinema Sewer, and that has proven to be an embarrassing choice. In my/our defence, it was really the only source for info on AVON for a long time. For this arcane, obscure history, you tend to trust someone who was there and knew the players personally -- and to find out it there was so much rumour and misinformation sprinkled in there sort of pisses me off.

To defend Landis slightly. What Landis wrote was true up to a point. Prince did go to jail for an armed robbery. He didn't later murder someone but at the same time, Prince hints at an earlier one in the interview. An actress from the late 90s once said that adult shoots were terrible for gossip. You're sitting around waiting for either the lights to be set up or an earlier scene to finish and they just sit around gossiping about everybody (same in the mainstream). And things get mixed up or added to by who's telling the tales. The problem of course is that Landis had a vehicle to report the gossip without verifying it.
