Just watched Corruption and Last House on Dead End Street, and have to say it was a great double feature disc by Vinegar Syndrome. I had seen Corruption years ago on VHS, but it was edited, so great to finally see it uncut, and the blu ray looked AMAZING. It was a very art type of porn film. I had also not seen The Last House on Dead End Street in years and it's kind of a horror classic now that I see it again, I did not remember it being as good as it was upon viewing it again tonight. I hope VS can release more of the films of Roger Watkins, I have only seen his other film Her Name was Lisa, which is a great one as well, I know he did others, but can't remember their names now as I did not see them I don't think. But I'm sure they are good as well and deserving of a release on blu ray or dvd. I can't wait for the January releases, VS keeps em coming :)

What did those of you who got the VS Avon collection think of those films? I thought they were obviously very low budget, but I thought they were interesting. I never saw any of them before, but I have seen some of the Avon films before, and they looked horrible the ones I had seen, it was like a revelation to see Avon films looking as good as they did on the VS DVD. I would definitely like to see another volume of Avon films from VS if possible. I do not know what films have good source elements still available, and I can't even think of the names of any Avon films off the top of my head. Wasn't Waterpower an Avon film? That would of course be like the holy grail of releases if VS could release a complete version of that film, as I think the film has been sliced and diced to pieces and maybe no complete version is left.

I was under the impression that Costello's preferred cut never saw any kind of release, and was actually somewhat shorter than the various different cuts available. The person to ask about Waterpower would be John Lyons, I recall that he spent some time working with Costello trying to track down usable elements. Though I suspect music right issues would prevent it ever getting a proper release, at least in the US.
As far as other Avon films go anything by Phil Prince is kind of essential, particularly for George Payne's psycho performances. I agree with Andy about The Story of Prunella, it's a good starting point. There's a nice print streaming on Exploitation.TV, and I'd actually recommend tracking down the old After Hours release. The extra features (commentary, outtakes) are well worth it.

Is there a snowball's chance in Hell that The Taming of Rebecca or Dr. Bizarro will get VS releases?
I remember renting pre-records of a few Avon films via a Chicago-based porn mailorder outfit. I think it may have been called S.V.E.; they sold a lot of Euro fetish videos along with scat tapes (including the infamous Jamie Gillis videos in much better quality than anyone in trading circuits had). I think S.V.E. had something to do with a Chicago porn shop.

rewatched Baby Cakes last night, the early 80's Bob Chinn movie, I know VS has released a few Bob Chinn films, this one would be a fun film to see in a good quality copy because my DVD is horrendous from TVX. And I also think it's got something cut out of it. It's got that California sex on the beach vibe to it, which I love. And it's got Rhonda Jo Petty, which of course is always good news. It's got a great theme song too, I love when a porn movie starts off with a great theme song, it makes the movie seem like it's off on the right foot.
