What prompted my post was the fact that I thought I'd finally purchase A WOMAN'S TORMENT in this current sale and when I selected the $14.99 Standard Edition in the dropdown menu it's labeled as SOLD OUT, making the slipcase version the only one available at the moment. I'd have to shell out an extra $5 to get that title with an extra piece of printed cardboard wrapped around it so I skipped it. I don't care about that movie enough to justify buying a fancier package. For a moment I thought about the possibility of selling it later on down the road - something that crosses my mind often whenever I purchase from a boutique label - but I dislike shifting into that flipper's mentality. In the end I've probably broken even on a lot of the stuff I've sold over the years that's gone out of print so it's not that big of a deal to temporarily own something, watch it, enjoy the extras and pass it along to someone else and essentially get my money back. It all comes out in the wash, I guess.
Now everyone can have a complete KRULL lifestyle.

You're right. I didn't realize that movie had gone OOP and I also see that the UHD has a new commentary track, so that doesn't quite fit into my gripe, as you're saying here.

Yes, but it went OOP - fairly recently as I recall - so they could sell this fancy new version and it's significantly more expensive than the original release.
Why would anybody watch a scum show like Videodrome? Why did you watch it, Max?

Remember the preservation focused VS Fest sale that we held last August? Well, proceeds from that event went directly towards upgrading the heart of our operation, the film scanner! VS's new and improved ARRISCAN XT is currently scanning film at our headquarters in Connecticut!

                • They're also releasing Babe via the Peekarama line.

                  https://vinegarsyndrome.com/collecti.../products/babe

Babe is one of New York's top fashion models. She's got almost everything anyone could ask for, but when her grandfather dies, making her the sole heir of his vast wealth, Babe is ready to leave her career behind and settle into the lap of luxury. Although, in order to clear the will's stipulations she must make one major lifestyle change: get married or lose her fortune. Her boss, Dori, is dealing with an equally significant dilemma: the prospect of losing her best model - and most valuable asset. Therefore putting her mind to the matter, Dori devises a devious plan to set Babe up with an eligible bachelor - only to bilk her of her cash, thus forcing her to go back to work. After a tense search, Dori thinks she's found Babe's perfect match - a hack actor named Chad who has dreams of creating an improbably expensive stage show, to be bankrolled by Babe. Will Chad and Dori see through on their plan to bankrupt Babe or will true love find its way through improbable odds?

Made during the height of early 80s sex film excess, John Christopher's BABE is an ultra glossy, star studded and sex-filled romantic comedy scribed by one of the genres most acclaimed screenwriters, Rick Marx (Roommates), and headlined by Tara Aire (Striptease) in one of her earliest roles, with supporting performances from Samantha Fox (Her Name Was Lisa), Veronica Hart (A Scent of Heather), Tiffany Clark (Mascara), and Rod Pierce in one of his only leading roles. Peekarama brings BABE to Blu-ray, freshly restored from its 35mm original camera negative and featuring an illuminating new interview with screenwriter Rick Marx.

Seriously thinking about just getting the standard edition of the Mexican Gothic set. Is it clear what is and isn't included? Is it the discs minus the box?

                    Edit: Ah, there's a 40-page book.

Haven't seen RAPIÑA, but the other two are very good, and in fact POISON FOR THE FAIRIES is excellent. It's great that someone has put out a set of Taboada's films. VCI's release of EVEN THE WIND IS AFRAID was recent, so it's understandable that wasn't in this set. I just wish they had included THE BOOK OF STONE, another superb 1960's horror offering from the director.
                              VHS will never die!

                              • In a perfect world, VS would get access to all of the Mexican titles VCI has released, and do them properly.
