  • Probably not going to be interested in the slashers but another HK actioner is good news.

    • So a few titles announced....

Road House UHD. Didn't see that coming, but I'm not mad!

Then in the bundle they've announced The Invisible Maniac, Home Grown Horrors Vol. 2 (which will contain Moonstalker, Dead Girls and Hanging Heart) and Burning Paradise (which rules).

      • I am embarrassed to say that I still don't understand the pre-sale. They've made it so that you can pre-order the titles individually which is great because I only want Invisible Maniac. I assume that the surprise titles will be a bust for me as always. Is there any actual advantage to me ordering IM now as opposed to during the actual sale? Do I at least get it sooner? If so, by how much?

        • Whoever did the Invisible Maniac cover art clearly did not see the movie, as it was made before Savannah got implants.

          • Got Burning Paradise, Hot Snake and Iceman Cometh on pre-order. Holding off on the secret releases as judging from VS' direction in the last few years it is probably some 80s horror which I find more hit and miss.

Saw on Twitter one of the VS fellows confirmed TCM2 in October. A fun movie but not one I gotta own.

              • It is going to be amazing to see Wishman's demented xxx films in such good shape.

Pity there are NO extras for this. According to SWV's Lisa, she said she did offer the audiotapes she had of Wishman on set including barking orders at people etc. Whish Vinegar Syndrome had taken up her offer as the audio tapes would make a great extra. Anyway Lisa did say that bits of the audio tapes she had are on The Best Of Doris Wishman CD/LP releases.

                  • Yeah the lack of extras on VS' recent xxx releases are disappointing, they should have Ian, Laura Helen Marks (from the Naughty Victorians commentary) or the many other smut experts out there to at least do a commentary.

                    • Watched Wishman's Come with Me My Love and Rojas' Hot Snake.

Seen the Wishman before but it looks crazy great here and young Annie Sprinkle is really something to see. Very sex heavy but also trippy as all hell, I do get the feeling someone shot the sex scenes beside Doris except a late orgy scene is so wacked out I wonder who it was who did shoot them?

Hot Snake is a real discovery, a full blown supernatural, transgressive, mildly-psychedelic SW with touches of Jodorwsky's influence I suspect. Mighty impressive, I wish there were some extras to give us some context and history of the director, I'm going to seek out his other films and see if they are worthwhile.

                      • I recall reading somewhere (damned if I can remember where though) that Wishman refused to be involved with shooting any of the hardcore sequences and left them up to her regular cinematographer C. Davis Smith.

I highly doubt that considering both films are over 90% porn.

                            Sold!

(By which I mean, added to my mental list for the next VS sale.)

Not true although Wishman tried to make that seem true. Lisa at Something Weird, has tapes of Wishman giving directions on her hardcore films. Lisa offered them to VS but they turned them down for some reason.

                              • From someone on Blu-ray forum, in regards to Sex Comedies & Erotic Thrillers & why Vinegar Syndrome haven't released any:

BTW, in an interview with Joe Rubin from a few years back, he stated that his mother allowed him to rent hardcore pornos at a very young age, which explains to me why he's never had any interest in sex comedies, as they would feel like some sort of a downgrade.
