  • The Roberta Findlay comedies are a must have, the threesome scene with C.J. Laing is infamous.

Never heard of Master of the World but it is clearly an Italian rip-off of Quest for Fire by the director of Blue Movie and so should be sleazy fun.

      I don't think you'll be disappointed.

It's Joe Piscopo's second-best movie, but it's no fargin' masterpiece.

            • Yeah! Great to see more smut rather than mediocre 80s horror coming down the pipeline. Although VS has definitely uncovered some psychotronic gems in the low budget 80s horror subgenre.

              • Any guesses or hints of what the new Peekarama releases could be?

We’re also taking the opportunity to upgrade to UHD, one of our favorite, and most requested for such treatment, 80s horror classics from the VS library. This new edition will be a sight to behold!
I've seen suggestions that the horror-tinged double feature could be Doris Wishman's two XXX films. We know those are coming from VS at some point although you'd expect their release to be tied in with the big forthcoming AGFA/SWV boxsets of her work. Also could be something French along the lines of their Furies Sexuelles\Prostitution Clandestine release, and there was plenty of weird XXX material being churned out of that country around the time.

My guess for the UHD is Taboo, since that originally had to be restored from a lesser-quality source, but there's also a decent chance the neg for one of the de Renzy films has turned up. Wouldn't be surprised if it was Pretty Peaches.

                  • From the newsletter yesterday:

Valentine's Day might not be until Monday, but our Valentine's Day Weekend Sale is less than 36 hours away! The big V-Day Weekend event starts this Friday the 11th at 12:01am EST, only at www.VinegarSyndrome.com!

As has become tradition, this annual event celebrates one of VS' founding principles: a love and desire to preserve the weirdest, rarest, and best in sex-cinema. Call it 'erotica,' call it 'smut,' or even the dreaded 'porn', this event puts front and center the artistry, creativity, and unfiltered cinematic rebellion found in our over 160 X-rated releases which, this Friday through Monday only, will all be marked down to 50% off SRP...with a few even lower!

But that's not all. For the second year in a row, we'll be upgrading one of our favorite catalog titles to UHD and BD, sourced from a brand new, 4K restoration of its long lost original negative (make that 2). Plus, we've found two unreleased short films from the earliest period in the career of this aesthetically unhinged cinematic madman.

Furthermore, the sale will mark the unveiling of another Peekarama release; a double feature of two wild slices of weirdo sleaze, one of which has only ever been available in heavily chopped up VHS source rips and the other, almost inaccessible in any form for decades.

For the gore-hounds, you won't be left out as, after YEARS of planning, we're finally upgrading to UHD, one of the best and most requested slashers in our catalog, allowing this already beautifully photographed and deliciously gruesome film to shine like never before.

Joining the festivities, our friends at Pulse Video have prepared two heaping helpings of high class hardcore, each featuring the world disc debuts of rare starring vehicles for France's queen and king eroticism, Marilyn Jess and Richard Allan.

And, to help you share your passions with friends, family, co-workers, and prudish passers-by, we'll have in stock a fresh array of theatrically appropriate shirts and merch!

Special note for current Pre-order customers: If you have already placed a pre-order for a February VS or Partner Label release, use the free 'Add to my existing sale order' shipping option when placing a V-Day sale order and everything will be boxed up together and begin shipping out next week.

As usual, the website will be placed into maintenance mode this Thursday morning (tomorrow) in advance of the sale.

                    • Only guess I got right is that the double feature would be something French!

Peekarama double feature is Patrice Rhomm's Draguse / Le bijou d’amour:

XXX UHD upgrade is Dracula Sucks:

                      https://vinegarsyndrome.com/collecti...-peekarama-uhd

                      Horror UHD upgrade is Madman:

                      https://vinegarsyndrome.com/collecti...cts/madman-uhd

And there's a new slipcover for Corruption for people who care about that sort of thing

                      • There are some pretty good deals this time around. Great to see Dracula Sucks getting a UHD upgrade, even though the film doesn't work for me in any version. Went for Draguse, Once Upon a Time Marilyn Jess and thought I'd check out LA Plays Itself just to see if it's as extreme as they say.
I'm bitter, I'm twisted, James Joyce is fucking my sister.

                        • Already scooped LA Plays Itself upon first release.

But I did blow a fair bit of my funds on these, never been a big fan of Dracula Sucks but believe I saw a cut print, the Europorn double feature sounds promising and I threw in the great Findlay double feature, the older Chinn double features (Hard Soap, Disco Lady), the Fantasm double and Master of the World which sounds craptastic.

Already got the Pulse release on order directly from them so I kinda saved some funds there.

                          • I liked Master of the World, but I would have liked it more if it was 20 minutes shorter. Lots of wookie sound effects (or did Star Wars use generic bear noises?). Definitely wanted to eat some brains afterwards...

Yeah, it does have that effect on one.

                              • Apologies if this has been mentioned, but Vinegar Syndrome has also partnered with Factory 25 to bring us a blu ray of one of my favorite recent films, Ham on Rye (available on March 29). I've already got my pre-order in. Here's an old blurb of mine: "an utterly unique film — come for the American Graffiti-through-a-Lynchian-lens aesthetic, stay for the surrealistic soul-crushing aftermath of snuffed out dreams — but with the faintest whiff of optimism". A most promising start for a first time director.
