  • Basically, yeah, as I've already said, we are not interested in censoring anything we release. Obviously, in some cases, censored material is all that exists, but our job is to present the films in the versions they were intended to be seen in, not alter them to suit prudish sensibilities.

That's the spirit :) Thanks for the confirmation, John.

      • Well I've just watched my Alpha France version of Femmes de Sade and for the life of my I cannot see the dog, sure you can here it bark but that's it. Unless there's another remastered Alpha France version out there its all academic anyway.

        • Strange, maybe the rip I saw was a composite then? Pretty sure the Alpha was the source, since it looked spectacular.

          • I have the Alpha on legit release and the dog is there. I don't recall there actually being any visible contact.

            • A Dalmatian is definitely in the movie for about 15-20 seconds and there is contact. He makes his entrance at approximately 1 hr 5 min into the movie. She has what looks like part of a hot dog inside her to attract the pooch!

Screenshot is from the Alpha France disc.

                    • I would love it if that was Intersection but it looks about a year too late to be that lost film.

Then what about them ONLY releasing (in the future) the Renzy bits of the documentary Animal Lover & NOT the full film which apparently did get shown UNCUT in San Fransisco back in 1971.

ANIMAL LOVER is not a real film. It's a 35 minute short that deRenzy merely bought or licensed, with a 30 minute self contained piece by deRenzy attached to the front.
The deRenzy bits are not integrated into the Bodil short. In fact, they werent even cut into his negative. The Bodil prints were spliced to the end of his sectipn.
His section ends and then the Bodil short, credits and all, begins and as such, 'cutting' a short film which was made by a different filmmaker that we may not even have rights to doesn't feel to me like 'censorship.'

Fair enough. What is the Animal Lover short like anyway? Just curious.

                              • The actual animal short is this:
                                http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1143890/?ref_=nm_flmg_slf_4

The stuff deRenzy shot is weird talking head and man on the street stuff of people discussing their thoughts on bestiality essentially hosted by a professor looking guy.
