    • Hey guys, does anyone know why Corporate Assets is only on DVD? I'm buying it now, but I'd love to buy a Blu-ray, and from the screencaps, the film appears to be a riot, and the element appears to be in excellent condition, as well. Was it just assumed that sales would not be good enough for Blu-ray, or are there indeed source issues? I guess I'm really wondering if an upgrade is possible if sales for this one are better than expected, or if there are issues that are worse than, say, Preety Peaches 3 with this one.

I think VS is still testing the waters and still being selective. "Corporate Assets" is a terrific movie and yes, the screenshots look great, but they must have a reason( financial, I suspect) why it won't be on blu ray. IMHO, this year has been a damn good year for VS with regards to adult films on blu ray so far, with "Taboo", "Her Name Was Lisa", and "China and Silk" still to be released this year. That's certainly more than I expected. Also, they are going to be releasing more blu rays per month and less dvds the rest of the year, which bodes well for potential future adult releases on blu ray.

        • are the Taboo 1-4 films going to be released individually by VS, or as a boxset with all 4 films on blu ray? Either way is cool, but just thinking how I would love a boxset of Taboo 1-4 on blu ray, I hope they can get some extras, although with Kirdy Stevens no longer living it might be harder, but I hope some are available. Oh aqnd I was rewatching my Kirdy Stevens DVD of Daisy Chain and my god it's a horrible quality print, that one definitely needs a remastering for DVD or blu ray, and maybe Karen Summers commentary or interview, she is back doing porn so it shouldn't be to hard to get her input :)

          • That's a great set of releases. The Wakefield Poole disc looks incredible, and the caps of Candy Tangerine Man on the VS site look really good considering how magenta the uncorrected scan cap on their Instagram was. And Both Ways! Holy shit that's one I'd never heard of before but it looks absolutely essential!

Corporate Assets certainly looks gorgeous and crazy enough to benefit from a Blu-Ray release, but I totally get that they're already putting out as much as they can on that format. Though I will say that if they ever decide to put out a limited edition Blu-Ray boxset of all their Wakefield Poole releases I would double-dip on that in a heartbeat. Just, y'know, putting that out there.

I think all the "Taboo" films will be released separately on blu ray. A blu ray boxset would be pricey and risky for VS. I personally love "Taboo 4" the most. That has excellent acting and great photography.

              • the first 5 Taboo films are all great I think, but you might be right Rakesh, it might be risky, because many people might only want one of the films in the set. I personally want them all lol, but I guess everyone isn't going to want all 4. My favorite was Taboo 2 I think, but Taboo 1 I must say is one I can watch just as much. I just find Dorothy Lemay so damn cute :) Even though Taboo came out in 1980 it seemed more like a 70's film to me, Taboo 2 seemed to have the fun of the 80's films. I notice that 80's porn seemed more fun, while 70's porn seemed more serious and darker a lot of the times, not always, but just in general. Taboo 1 was a little more serious, Taboo 2, well it was a little more on the fun side.

VS got backlash from certain folks for re-releasing "SexWorld" and "Pretty Peaches" on blu ray after their initial limited edition blu rays. I think they will be careful when it comes to re-releases. Personally, I have no issue with buying a title again. Certainly, an upgrade from dvd to blu ray would be more than enough incentive for me.

Well, I think most of the issues there stemmed from VS re-releasing titles that were already on Blu-ray, not titles that were upgraded to Blu-ray after releasing on DVD. I don't recall any complaints about the Candy double-feature Blu-ray, or the Pretty Peaches sequels being on Blu-ray. This is similar to how Code Red or Scorpion upgrade titles, too, and 99.9% of us are overjoyed, unless one guy just bought the DVD yesterday, or something.

It would be great for VS to get to the point where titles like CA and DR:HS can be released as combo packs outright, but we all have to understand financial realities, and, as many have said, I'm sure 75% or more of their XXX films are risky for the format. And we are being spoiled rotten with the Taboo films, anyway.

Yes, I agree about blu ray/dvd combo packs. That seems like a practical solution, although financially it might be tricky. I just wish the cost for blu ray production would go down. I'm personally shocked that dvd still exists after all these years.

                      • I bought the limited edition blu rays of Pretty Peaches and Sex World, and I think it's great they re released them on blu ray for more people to enjoy. I think it's stupid that people want the movie to remain out of print. I think everyone should get a chance to see these movies in HD looking great. Why are some people so greedy and want only a limited number of people to see the film and they want to hoard their blu ray and be like some greedy bastard and keep others from watching the film. I am not one of those people that want only myself and a few others to get to see a film, I want as many people as possible to get to buy it, this is good for Vinegar Syndrome, the more people that can buy their films, the more money they make, the more films they can release to blu ray, which is great for fans.

                        • There were commentaries on TABOO 1 and TABOO 4 when Stevens released them through his own company. The first one was with Kay Parker, Stevens and his wife. The fourth one had Ginger Lynn along with Stevens and his wife. I assume VS could easily transfer them over if they want to. Since John confirmed that they bought the rights through his son, they probably have whatever materials Stevens kept (and don't forget, most adult directors didn't really place much value in their old films and rarely kept much).

I'm going to go out on a limb here, and say that I think it's a sort of anxiety issue, really. I think customers have been fed so much crap about the end of physical copies, especially in the era of Blu-ray, that there is a desire to see a title get announced, and then sold, and then sell out, because that creates a sense that the label can move on to releasing more titles. On the other hand, if a title is sold indefinitely, something which used to be viewed as entirely positive by anyone and everyone, then maybe some people now wrongly view that as stagnation, even if they don't know it.

                            • With Psychic Killer coming out next month, I wonder what the chances are of them releasing Don't Go Near the Park (another title previously issued by Dark Sky, which has been OOP for quite some time). My favorite title from their catalog, aside from Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer. Would definitely be right at home amongst Vinegar Syndrome's other offerings.

                              • They have a few more horror titles that they haven't announced yet, maybe it's one of them? I'd be down for an upgrade on that one too, it's pretty nutty.
