Whatever you think of Adamson's films, the accompanying commentaries by Sam Sherman are pure gold! Great memory, great stories, and he truly loved Al. I started collecting the OOP DVDs just for the commentaries. Can't wait to dump those.

BTW, Down to $199 on Amazon...
Check out my F'dup Flix blog for more musings on disreputable films.

So there might be a delay on the boxed set due to the coronavirus situation.

So it looks like this is now due to ship the end of April.

Severin says they're down to 100 sets.

This might actually sell out on pre-order.

I got an email today that sez end of May...

For the past couple of weeks we have been trying to figure out the quickest and most efficient way
to get the most complex box set we've ever undertaken finished and delivered.

The individual discs are replicated and at our fulfillment facility in San Francisco.
The problem is the box itself which is a unique and complex piece of packaging.
The combination of a shortage of staff at the factory for assembly and limited shipping options from overseas
to the US means that the completed boxes with book are now due to arrive at the fulfillment facility in SF by the end of this month.

With the situation as it is now the boxes will start shipping from our webstore the second week of May, so just over a month late.
The official street date has now moved back just over a month to May 26th
so orders from other e-tailers will ship then (possibly earlier for DiabolikDVD orders).
We apologize for this delay but we are working as hard as possible
to make sure this colossal collection makes its way into your hands as soon as possible during this unprecedented time.

With all this said, the stock we will have at the webstore is running very low:
we have only 16 Bundle A Go Go's remaining and under 100 Box Sets.
We also have one Bundle of Ghastly Horror available as well (shirt size can be adjusted).

Severin uploaded a video showing off the packaging for this release.

                  From FB last night:

"***UPDATE ON AL ADAMSON: THE MASTERPIECE COLLECTION***

The completed box exists! You can see one in the photograph below. It's been a long road with a string of hurdles due to current world events, but we can now confirm that orders from our webstore will begin shipping next week on a first ordered, first shipped basis. Our fulfillment operation is a one man show and due to current restrictions we are not able to take on additional help so please be aware that it will likely take the entire month of May for all orders to ship. The street date for general release remains June 2nd.

We also want to make it clear that currently none of our other announced releases (or the new box set announcement happening tomorrow) run the risk of the manufacturing delays that the Adamson box encountered, as they aren't such complex items with multiple stages of manufacture."

Great news. I think I ordered on the first day of the announcement, but hundreds of other folks may have as well. I do hope Severin honors their pledge of shipping on the "first ordered, first shipped" basis.

Some people who have the set already are stating that disc 8, which has the The Naughty Stewardesses/Blazing Stewardesses on it, has possibly been encoded wrong as a data disc and not a video disc and that it isn't playing.

I'm assuming Severin will issue a replacement for this if that is the case.

Very disappointing, as I am most interested in the non-horror stuff at this point. Hopefully this will somehow be resolved quickly and well.

Any word on when/if the "May" titles might be shipping? I'm kind of surprised they didn't save themselves some money and ship them together.

I don't expect the May titles to ship until all of the Adamson sets have been dispatched.

Fair enough. If they have stopped shipping the Adamson until the replacement discs arrive, I wonder if they could start shipping the May stuff? Great titles in that batch.

                                From their FB page:

"We've been made aware of a replication issue on disc 8 of Al Adamson: The Masterpiece Collection. We are communicating with the replicator now and they are jumping on fixing their error before any more go out. Only direct orders from our webstore that have already shipped and/or packaged will be affected. We're working on getting all of those loyal customers an automatic replacement, still ahead of street date, with no need to write in. Stand by while we figure this out in short order please."
